“Ugh, why does the picture look so bad?” Actually the picture on my TV and PS3 is just fine. The problem stems from my expectations. This past weekend I came home from college to visit my parents, and naturally brought my beloved console along. All was well until I started to play on my parents HD TV. I was actually stunned to see clear colorful visuals. That’s probably because this is the TV in my living room:

One good thing is that by now my standards have been so inexorably lowered that once I leave college I'll settle for anything. Also, our TV does act as the ultimate conversation piece. Guests can't help but ask about it (generally people want to know if it works). Yes, it does work (quality be damned!) and can even be compelled to play current gen video games. The real question though, is what will happen to it when my roommates and I graduate this year. It was passed down to us from an old roommate, who got it from her old roommate (who I can only assume also got the TV second hand). How she managed to get it all the way up to our second floor apartment is beyond me (I'm told it's on wheels, but my attempts to push it have resulted in miserable failure). My hope is that the new tenants will agree to keep it, and hopefully pass it on themselves.
