Announcement: Next week is the 20th Bitmob Community Jukebox. Like I did for the 10th, I’m featuring a special theme — for the 20th Jukebox I’ve decided to go with awesomely bad video game music. If you’ve got a great game song that you love to hate, I’m looking for submissions that will make my ears bleed and my sides stitch with laughter!

I didn’t get a lot of suggestions this week, so I filled out the list with some of my favorite not-so-well-known tunes — lots of great music from lots of bad games.

As always, newcomers should be sure to hit the jump to learn more about the submission guidelines.

I’ve got two ways to set your nostalgia all aflutter:

Method 1: Pick and Choose

My Selections

1) Super Mario Sunshine — Special Stage

2) Metal Gear — Alert Theme*

3) Quattro Arcade: CJ’s Elephant Antics — Title Screen*

4) Magic Knight Rayearth — Taflon by the Sea

5) Psychonauts — Relaxing Within the Campground Lodge

6) Mother 3 — Time Passage

7) The Lord of the Rings: Volume 1 — Main Theme

8) The Neverending Story — Main Theme

9) No One Can Stop Mr. Domino — Fun Park Massive

Community Selections

10) Eternal Darkness: Sanity’s Requiem — The Gift of Forever and Ram Dao suggested by Alex R. Cronk-Young

11) OutRun — Passing Breeze suggested by Travis McReynolds

12) Xenosaga Episode 2: Jenseits von Gote und Böse — Labyrinthos suggested by David Matos

13) Borderlands — No Heaven (by DJ Champion) suggested by Evan Killham

14) We Love Katamari — Blue Orb suggested by Jasmine Maleficent Rea

15) Professor Layton and the Last Time Travel — Theme* suggested by Ryan Conway (++good)

Method 2: Let It Ride

For all you newcomers, here’s how it works. There are few simple rules/guidelines for submitting songs:

1) Every week I will post 15 well known — and not-so-well-known — songs.

2) For each post, I will choose as many as 14 community suggestions to put toward the 15. Any shortfall will be made up by me.

3) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people’s favorite bands.

4) Each week one song will be selected as the Double-Plus Good Pick of the Week. The winner will receive exactly nothing save that their song will be featured last and will have a “++good” marker next to it.

5) Only one submission response per person per post. This is the most important rule. If you submit more than one song, I will not listen to any of them, and they will not be posted the following week.

Finally, if you’d like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week, try to think of a great song I’ve never heard before or a song you think I have overlooked. I love hearing new music!

Again, only one submission response per person per post.

P.S. Really people, I want the songs to be awesome. And bad.
