The Bitmob Community Jukebox is all about video game music love. Each week, the community selects fifteen songs that will brighten any gamer’s Monday morning.
With each post, I try to choose a theme. As it turns out, Taito’s beloved, cherubic, bubble-blowing twin dragons — Bub and Bob of Bubble Bobble fame — host this week’s Jukebox. Over the last two and half decades, the duo has appeared in a strange set of titles.
First they broke into the dungeon of Grumple Grommit and turned back into real boys. Then, they visited the Rainbow Islands and ascended to the heavens to defeat the Dark Shadow. In Bust-a-Move, they retired to a life of easy come, easy go puzzle solving — and inexplicably became dragons again.
The community submissions vary pleasantly this week. Evan Killham offers a mysterious electronica piece from musician Amon Tobin. Jasmine Maleficent Rea’s choice sends up the zombie/brain quandary with a song written as a memorandum. And make sure to check out Aaron Rivers’ over-the-top thrash from Brütal Legend. Man, do I hate metal.

For all you newcomers, here’s how it works. There are few simple rules/guidelines for submitting songs:
1) Every week I will post 15 well-known — and not-so-well-known — songs.
2) For each post, I will choose as many as 14 community suggestions to put toward the 15. I will make up any shortfall.
3) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people’s favorite bands.
4) Each week, I will select one song as the Double-Plus Good Pick of the Week. The winner will receive exactly nothing save that their song will be featured last and will have a “++good” marker next to it.
5) Only one submission response per person, per week.
I will always try to find the official name of any song I use — whether it comes from myself or the community. If I am unable to verify a song’s title, I will mark it with an asterisk (*).
Finally, if you’d like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week, try to think of an obscure song or a song you think I have overlooked in previous posts.
