This past Christmas, I treated myself to a nifty little Acer notebook. As a lifelong Mac user, this purchase represents a big step for me — it’s the first PC I’ve owned in, well, ever.
Now that I’ve made the plunge into the world of Windows, I’d like to dip my toes in the PC gaming scene. In each edition of this column, I’ll describe my experiences with another PC game from the past 20 years or so that I’ve missed out on.
That’s where you come in. I’ve downloaded Steam, but I’m at a loss where to begin. I need your suggestions of fantastic (and cheap) games to seek out. I’m willing to explore any genre and any time period — provided I can run the game on my machine. It’s a low-end notebook, remember, so no recommendations of Crysis or its ilk. I’d prefer old games, or indie games, or games that are free or cheap or have a demo — I’m on a budget.
So leave your suggestions in the comments, along with a link to where I can pick them up. And I’ll see you back here next week as a newly minted PC gamer!
Thanks!
