Editor’s note: I used to be a big-time swag collector. I’d go to E3, snag as much I could, and then put it on eBay to recoup some of my travel costs. But that was back in the day; I'm reformed now. Here, Chris shows off some of the interesting freebies he acquired at PAX East. Nice haul! – Aaron
My previous PAX entry contained no pictures, which is sad. I explained in that post that my I didn't have my camera, but that didn't stop me from taking pictures of all my free stuff when I got home:
This was a book that contained all-things-PAX. There's a map of the show floor and so on. I love the art work, of course.
The bag was the first thing you get when entering PAX. It contained a bunch of goodies, so I emptied it and took pictures. Unfortunately, I think I may have stuffed a few things that weren't originally in there, but you get the general idea. The Magic cards were in there, though, and it's my first pack. I wonder if this card game will catch on?
This was the next bag I got. All I had to do was give some lady my email. I wrote "Mickey Mouse." She wasn't paying attention.
I headed to the Turbine booth next, where two of the developers were giving away Lord of the Rings Online, and signing the box. The collector's edition no less. Pretty cool. They ran out of t-shirts while I was waiting in line, but I came back later and snagged one by begging and pleading.
These are just stickers, except the Lord of the Rings Online disc. That's a soundtrack. I didn't realize it was already in the collector's edition before I nabbed it.
CPU magazine was giving away a free, six month subscription, plus this complimentary issue. If you click the picture, you can peruse the entire magazine. I took the liberty to photograph every page. Just kidding.
This game, Power Gig, sounded like Rock Band, but here's the difference: it features a real, working six-string guitar. I didn't see any gameplay, but I hope it works well. To get this shirt, I had to put it on in front of the developers.
With everything I had collected, it was time to upgrade my bag. The guy at this booth, Zotac, was too busy watching Wolverine: Origins to care whether I grabbed the bag or not. I'm not kidding, either.
Here's my favorite shirt. Like I mentioned previously, these are the developers I wanted to meet, and they were kind enough to throw a shirt my way. And some pins.
I bumped into Jerry/Tycho and had him sign my badge. All day, prior to meeting him, I was practicing what I was going to say. When I saw him, all I could get out was, "Thanks for doing this." I'm glad I didn't throw up on him or something.
Well, that's it for the pictures! Hope you guys enjoyed. And I hope that other people took pictures of the show, I know I'd love to see some.
