Watch Your Radar! Halo is Back on it!
Halo: Reach Beta Approaches…
Even though I had some great times this weekend with Halo 3, I couldn’t help but feel that even as great as Halo 3 is, it is starting to feel a little dated. The cure for that this spring will be a taste of Bungie’s latest offering, Halo: Reach.
We are just a little over a month away from the launch of the Halo: Reach beta! I remember just how exciting and fun The Halo 3 Multiplayer Beta was, and I am looking for much the same this time around, but bigger, better, and with more bad-ass! If you have watched Bungie’s recently released ViDoc regarding the multiplayer, you will realise that this is not quite your father’s Halo. I have a few bullet-points for you to keep in mind as the beta draws closer:
-
Get Your Skills Up: If you haven’t played Halo in awhile, or perhaps you have been playing Modern Warfare or Battlefield Bad Company extensively, you may want to take some time to reacquaint yourself with the Halo controls and feel before you go balls-out with Reach
-
Have your copy of Halo 3: ODST on the Ready: Mostly, your only chance to get into the Halo: Reach beta is to have a copy of ODST. You will need the disk as it carries the launch mechanism for the beta. You don’t want to be left with no way in. If you shop around you may be able to find a good deal on the game as it is several months old.
-
Friends and Family: If you are a member at Bungie.net you will want to watch your inbox at that site as there is a potential that you may get into the beta early via Bungie’s ‘Family and Friends’ program. I had early access to the Halo 3 beta via this program and it made me an instant celebrity amongst my Xbox LIVE friends. I believe I may have just been a random recipient and I know this year they will be doing the same. So again, be sure to chack that box because you do not want to miss that potential opportunity.
Halo Zombie Fun on Double XP Weekend!
Zombie Repeller
On a Mythic map, killed 2 Zombies during a ranked or social match.
Gamerscore = 25 Acquired 27/3/2010
Last weekend I was able to partake in Bungie’s ‘Double XP’ weekend featuring the Zombie game-type variant. I had a lot of fun, but even more importantly I was able to score three more achievements for Halo 3! I earned the achievements Delicious Brains, Zombie Repeller, and … Get the Horns. each of which was worth 25 Gamerscore and all were related to the Zombie game-type.
Hell’s Janitor!
Kill 10 zombies in a row as the human without dying.
As well as earning achievements I was able to earn some Medals that I had not before. I picked up some Zombie Killing Spree! medals for picking off 5 Zombies in a row without dying, and I was also able to earn the elusive Hell’s Janitor! medal a couple of times. If you got to my Bungie File Share you can watch a clip from one of my Zombie-killing sprees. As you can see above, I found this Hallway on Orbital to be a bottleneck that Zombie’s couldn’t resist, and I stacked those bodies high!
SUPERGHOST’s Highlight Screenshot!
To close out this post I want to put up a screenshot from a recent ODST Firefight that my son and I were in. It is my ode to Ghost Rider. Flame on!.
