Welcome to the 40th edition of the Bitmob Community Jukebox. Because Super Mario Galaxy 2 is due to hit in five days, this installment features a special Mario theme. The original Super Mario Galaxy is my favorite game of the current console generation, and the idea of jumping back in and stomping some goomba has me stoked. I can barely contain my excitement for the sequel!

Last week, I asked everyone to share their favorite Mario tunes. I have to say that my fellow Bitmobbers came through with some awesome — and peculiar — choices. Frequent contributor Jimmy Flores and I chose two epic pieces from Super Mario Galaxy's sweeping score. Moderator Lance Darnell went with a rendition of Super Mario Bros. 3's soundtrack that is remixed with live drums. Bitmobbers Chris Hoadley, Matt Giguere, and Janelle Hindman stepped outside the mainline Mario series and shared a few excellent tracks from Mario's role-playing exploits. Finally, Michael Pangelina offered up one more reason why the Super Mario Bros. movie was a crime against humanity.

It's definitely an entertaining playlist this week. If you like to get in on the fun next time, hit the jump to find out how.

I've got three ways for you to do the Mario:

Method 1: Pick and Choose

Community Selections

1) Super Mario Galaxy — Gusty Garden Galaxy

2) Paper Mario — Battle Fanfare suggested by Chris Hoadley

3) Super Mario Galaxy — Battlerock Galaxy suggested by Jimmy Flores

4) Super Mario World — Western Show on Super Mario World suggested by Bryan Glynn

5) Super Mario 64 — Dire, Dire Docks suggested by Ryan Conway

6) Super Mario Bros. 2 — Overworld suggested by Sylvain Castonguay

7) Super Mario Bros. 3 — Vadrum Meets Super Mario Bros. 3 suggested by Lance Darnell

8) Super Mario RPG — Forest Maze Remix suggested Matt Giguere

9) Paper Mario — Gusty Gulch Adventure suggested by Janelle Hindman

10) Super Mario Bros. (The Movie) — Walk the Dinosaur (by George Clinton and the Goombas) suggested by Michael Pangelina (++funkadelic)

Method 3: I'm Tired of This Playlist

Tired of this week's Jukebox selections? Want to scope which classic songs other Bitmobbers have already nabbed? Then check out The Bitmob Community Jukebox Archive. Contributor Evan Killham created — and maintains — a comprehensive list of every song that the community and I have ever chosen.

With hundreds of tunes available in the Archive, you don't need to fret if this week's jams aren't to your taste. Just click the link, and the records keep on spinnin'!

For all you newcomers, here's how it works — I've got just two simple rules for submitting songs:

1) Songs from music games with original music and licensed songs from game soundtracks like Grand Theft Auto are OK. Submissions from games like Guitar Hero or Rock Band will not be accepted. Otherwise, this post may turn into a competition between people's favorite bands.

2) Only one submission response per person, per week.

When you've thought of a selection, put it in the comments below. And don't worry about the theme you see in the title of the post — I name each edition retroactively.

I will always try to find the official name of any song I use — whether it comes from myself or the community. If I am unable to verify a song's title, I will mark it with an asterisk (*).

Finally, if you'd like to win the Double-Plus Good Song of the Week (the weekly best of award), try to think of an obscure song or a song you think the community and I have overlooked in previous posts.

P.S. Thanks to everyone who suggested a Mario-themed song this week! Next week, everything is back to normal.
