The vast amount of terrible booth tour invites in my inbox can mean only one thing: E3 is right around the corner. I'm honestly not sure whether or not I'm excited for this year's show. I think "curious" would be the best way to describe my current state of mind. Here are the three things I'm curious about going into this year's show.

Shenmue 3?
It's probably every-other-week that I'm on the Mobcast babbling about my love for the original Shenmue. The sequel didn't have quite the same magic as the first, but I'd kill Brett Bates to find out how this saga ends. OK, maybe I wouldn't kill him, but I would be willing to spill a drink on his nicest shirt or let his dog use his toothbrush.

Why am I suddenly so jazzed over Ryo and friends? This crazy rumor from some random Spanish website is why. I don't really think there's much of a chance of that Sega will revive this seemingly dead-and-buried franchise, but crazier things have happened. I'm such a sucker.

PSP 2?
The PSP was awesome…for a few years. Then Sony decided it would rather redesign the hardware than make good games for the system. It's tough to call the PSP a failure, but I certainly don't think it lived up to its potential.

If Sony does announce the PSP 2 at this year's show they had better have a few big-name titles at the ready; people won't get excited about potential this time around. Oh, and if it doesn't have a second analog stick, I don't even know what to say. That couldn't happen. Could it?

The Show's Vibe
I didn't go to E3 last year. E3 2008 was pretty much a dud and I needed a break from writing about games I had little interest in. Now I'm well-rested and E3 has had another year to return to its former glory. But will it?

I hope so. There's nothing quite like the excitement and energy of a bustling E3 show floor. It's not the spectacle of half-naked booth girls or live skateboarding exhibitions that gets me fired up — it's new technology and just-announced, mind-bending, amazing-looking games. I want to fall in love with a game or piece of hardware and spend far too much time with it. I want to leave the show and think about how I can't wait to own it. God I love that feeling.

You know, maybe I am excited for the show after all. Are you?
