Reggie came out and explained why Nintendo is great and why we should be excited. Needless to say I became less excited.
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword– This is a new Zelda game that is going to stick with the cell shaded style however this time Link is all-growed-up. Miyamoto pops through the wall to show how the Wii Remote and Nunchuck will become your sword and shield. Miyamoto is not good at video games or the controls need lots of refinement. New additions are a remote control beetle, whip and directional sword slashing angles. Miyamoto says that the controls are 1:1… Probably not.
Mario Sports Mix– The same Mario sports characters now playing volleyball, hockey, dodgeball and basketball in a single game compilation. The hockey looked to be the best Mario sport transition so far.
Reggie speaks about Wii momentum. He also brings up “Bridge Titles” that bring games to everyone. He must be using a Jedi Force Power because people seemed to cheer.
Wii Party– Nintendo’s newest "bridge title" seems to do everything that Mario Party ever did but with Mii characters.
Just Dance 2- A dance game… Probably similar to Just Dance but with subtle differences and songs… Who has two thumbs and doesn't care? ….
Nintendo Press Conference low point achieved. Check.
Golden Sun: Dark Dawn (DS)- Welcome back. It has only been 7 years. Will there be any stat crossover for your previous characters? Hell, do you still own that game? Game looks similar but with updated graphics.
New Goldeneye (Wii)- FPS. Bringing N64 graphics to your Wii. The good part is that Goldeneye is only a single generation gap backward in graphics for the Wii. The game will be made by Activision (clapping dies off and subtle swear words can be heard). Activision can’t keep remaking this game… or can they?
Disney Epic Mickey– Mickey is in Venture Land and something is wrong with it (Similar to Shaun White and Saboteur). He needs to make it pretty again. The game plays as a 3rd person adventure where you draw and erase your way to… do something Disney-ish. There is an ethical dilema involved in the game: Do you paint or erase to fix the world you are in? Something we should all consider, I'm sure. Traveling from world to world changes to 2D side scrolling in a 2.5D world.
Reggie says he is a hardened gamer? I have a tough time believing the head of NOA is a hardened gamer unless he meant it another way… Shwing!

Kirby Epic Yarn- Kirby is in a new game obviously supposed to interest girls with a soft and cuddly art style. Looks something like LittleBigPlanet. New art style looks like actual fabric. The game graphics and newish art style looks very good in a trailer showing gameplay.
Dragon Quest 9 (DS) – 300 monsters, 900+ items and random maps now with 4 person multiplayer. Gotta Share ‘Em All? Ugh.
Metroid Other M (Wii)– Looks great. It seems to share many game play mechanics that made both Metroid first person games and the side scrollers fun.
Donkey Kong Country Returns (Wii)– Retro has returned to make a 2.5D side scrolling DK game. The game style looks very similar to the Rare-made versions for the Super Nintendo. The graphics and music have of course been updated beautifully.
Nintendo 3DS- MEGATON!!!! Saturo Iwata showed off “Glasses free 3D gaming.” He presented the 3DS with a 3.5” wide screen display on top and the normal DSi touch screen on the bottom. The new handheld console features a “3D slider” that can add or minimize the viewing depth in games.
Iwata also spoke of improved graphics capabilities, a “slide pad” for analog directional control, motion and gyro sensors. The system will come with 2 cameras on outside so it can take and display 3D pictures. The 3DS will also have WiFi that works and communicates all the time, navigates the internet and has no monthly fees. Iwata also reports the 3DS will play Disney WB and DreamWorks movies.
Kid Icarus: Uprising- The game will be the first Nintendo 3DS game in 3D. The game graphics seemed on par with the Wii. It looks very good for a handheld.

3D Nintendogs + Cats – Kingdom Hearts – Resident Evil – Assassin’s Creed – Metal Gear Solid – Saint’s Row – Star Fox
Nintendo handed out women and 3DS’s for borrowing only. I think Shoe kept this one, ETHICS BE DAMNED!
The Nintendo was at MUCH less disapponting than what I am used to. I don't even know how to properly quantify what I have seen or how it weighs against the Microsoft Conference so far. It was good though.
