I've noticed a couple of things at this weeks E3 that I haven't really heard much talk about. I'm wandering if anyone else has any thoughts on them as well.
I'm sure my jaw wasn't the only one that dropped as I saw Gabe Newell take the stage at Sony's press conference to reveal Portal 2. Sure it was amazing that Sony of all the platforms got the first reveal, let alone the praise it received from Gabe himself, but Steam coming to PS3?!?! Granted it's a little early to know exactly what features will be making it over to PS3, even Doug Lombardi mentioned they are still pinpointing which features will actually make it to launch day. With a release window in 2011 I think they have plenty of time to work that out and it also goes without saying that it allows them the ability to push out patches at will and keep total control of their IP. What I found most amazing is that Steam on PS3 will finally bring the cross-platform gaming, be that PC and PS3, that we've been looking forward to. Also did anyone else notice the use of some gaming elements in Portal 2 from the indie game Tag: The Power of Paint for PC.
Second is the quiet launch of OnLive. With companies like Spawn Labs really pushing the remote access to your video games anywhere. OnLive didn't get the massive launch or reveal I was expecting. Heck I only found out OnLive was open for registrations by remembering to visit their site.
Anyone else stumble upon any sleeper announcements?
