Lately I have begun to realize just how much better of a gaming experience I have (in terms of sheer enjoyment) thanks to achievements and trophies. At first glance, one could assume that trophies are nothing more than a ploy to squeeze as much replayability from a title as possible with the least amount of effort. But, from the ashes of this particular conspiracy theory rises a new way to progressively get yourself back into a game you may have given up on or gotten bored of.

So, here I am, gentle reader, to step you through the games I've been trouncing through in my virtual misadventures. Consider this article not only a guide to the games, but also little shots of my own insight to the title proper.

The first game on the list is the one I've put the most time into as of late: Super Street Fighter IV. With around 90+ hours of total gametime and over 325 ranked matches played online, I've certainly dedicated a fair amount to the game.

So, let us get started. We have a lot of work ahead.

– Fashion Plate (bronze)
Even a top rate figher needs to coordinate properly! You gotta get all of the Colors first!

Pretty simple objective with this trophy, as you just need to recieve all 10 colors for each characters initial costume. Don't worry about alternatives, as you get all the colors from those upon purchase. The quickest way to go about this trophy is to play a whole lot of verses with a multitude of different characters. For those of you that don't have that kind of time, just continually start a Vs. match, exit upon round one starting, and keep doing this until you have all the colors.

-Dan The Man (Bronze)

Mastery of the Saikyo arts requires mastery of the Personal Action! Collect 'em all, punk!

The same idea for the prior trophy applies to this one as well. Of course, if your character of choice is Dan you have a bit more work to do.

– Entitled (Bronze)

A Title does not tell all of a man, sir, but if I were see one Titles, I'd want them all…

Ditto for this trophy. But, as a fun side note I will mention that this particular trophy has my favorite flavor-text. Go figure.

– EXtra! EXtra! (Bronze)

Battle requires courage! Train by using your EX Gauge to successfully land 100 EX Moves!

Sigh. Why must Ryu be such a douchemonger? Oh well, nevermind the bollocks. Just play any amount of any mode and you'll eventually get this. Though, I will say that for me this trophy egged me on to practice my EX moves. The key here is to just be aware of your SUPER meter. As one who is not a fan of Super moves (as their difficulty in building up said meter is often not worth the payoff), I would suggest only using your meter for EX attacks, or focus cancels.

– Super, Man! (Bronze)

To battle is to win a fight with overwhelming strength! Show me you can do 100 Super Combos!

This particular trophy may be one you'll have to use a sidestep to get, due to the fact of what I stated in the last trophy that Super combos are often too hard to build up to in a regular match. So, just go into training mode with the super meter on infinite and wack away.

– Ultra, Man! (Bronze)

If yer gonna fight, give it your all, pal. Performing 100 Ultra Combos oughta do it, eh?

You don't have to be nearly as abrupt as the last trophy to get this one. Just play as normal and you'll eventually come across it. I will say though that much like I said about the Super Combo version of this trophy, this may urge you on to practice your ultras.

– Superior Super (Bronze)

Trust your instincts and winning will come easy. Let's begin with 50 Super Combo finishes!

This may be hard to come across unless you're extremely staunch with your super meter. This trophy is a war of atrition more than anything. Give time, and you'll eventually hit the spot.

– Ultimate Ultra (Bronze)

Candy always says you gotta win with style, so go out there and perform 50 Ultra Combo finishes!

Stats of any longterm SSF4 player will show that they typically pull off more ultras than supers, so I'm sure you'll find this particular trophy easier to come across than others.

– Sunspotter (Bronze)

Amigo, perform 365 Super or Ultra Combo finishes against your opponents! The dawn is coming!

Time. Effort. Seeing a trend here? Stick with the game and you'll slug this trophy out at some point. If you want to keep track of how many you've done, just go to player records and take a gander.

-Absolute Perfection (Bronze)

Lauren's waiting, so how about you finish your fights quickly and get 30 Perfects. Sound good?

This trophy may be a tad on the intimidating side at first glance, but an easy fix can be had. Just go into Arcade mode on the easiest difficulty and pummel away. If you aren't completely horrible at the game, the computer AI should leave holes in their game open so large that you could drive a bus through them. Or Star Jones.

– Clear Headed (Bronze)

Hey! Got time to kill? Try to clear Arcade Mode on Medium or higher! That's all you gotta do!

Practice, practice, practice. I won't like in admitting that I didn't get this trophy until after I got my feet wet in online matches. The computer can be very predictable once you get comfortable in your on street fighting shoes.

– All Clear (Bronze)

To get strong takes lots of fighting! Clear Arcade mode on Medium or higher with all characters!

Uh… Ditto.

– Herculean Effort (Bronze)

Can you finish Arcade Mode on Medium or higher without using a continue? Show me you can!

Play slow, play smart, block often.

Hard Times (Bronze)

To escape death is to beat the strongest of the strong. Finish Arcade Mode on Hardest, kid!

Rise, wash, repeat. Wax on, wax off…. Uh… Insert advice here…

– Long Time No See (Bronze)

Do you wish for defeat? If so, complete Arcade Mode on Hardest difficulty and beat Gouken!

I wonder what Betty White is doing right now…

– Rival Schooled (Bronze)

See your future by clearing every Rival Battle on Medium or higher with every character.

Once again, this just takes time. But, by setting this trophy as an overall goal I'm sure you'll find that the others will come along naturally. Just play. Simple as that.

– Good Start (Bronze)

All of nature must withstand a trial. You must clear 10 trials in Trial Mode to succeed.

I'll state for the record that I despise the trial mode, so by relation I hate the trophies associated with them. Luckily, this one isn't all that terrifying. Just start  challenge with a character you really feel confident with. You'll get past the first 7-8 trials easily since they are typically just the special moves/super combo/ultra combo.

– Trail of Trials (Bronze)

There is no shortcut in the art of Yoga. Aum to clear any character's Trial Mode trials!

Okay… That's a bit tougher. Once again, try to use a character you're solid with. I would also suggest the Superguide for SSFIV on 1up as they have videos for each character showing the timing of each combo. Some excellent YouTube videos also exist. Trust me, unless you have an uncanny eye for the timing of the combos, you'll need some help to get the general idea. Especially if you even want to try the next trial mode trophy.

– Oh! My Car! (Bronze)

Hee hee, destruction is so much fun! Score 80,000 points or more in the Car Crusher bonus stage!

Using a character with a multi-hit special helps here. I would sugest using Ibuki and her backward circle+kick attack or her dragon punch motion+kick attack.

– Barrel Of Laughs (Bronze)

No need for barrels without oil! Score 110,000 points or more in the Barrel Buster bonus stage!

As much as I hate to say it… any shoto character is a good choice here. Dragon punch away.

– It Begins! (Bronze)

The fight starts here! Set your Title and Icon, and begin fighting online!

Whaddayawant? A picture drawn?

– First Timer (Bronze)

I'll never forget my first time for Ryu's sake! Win one Ranked Match! Gotta aim for the top!

Does Sakura's Ryu obsession scare anyone else? She seems to bounce between seeing him as a rival to love interest to (drawing conclusions from this trophy's text) a diety. Huh?

Oh right, the trophy. Just go online for God's sake.

– Threepeat (Bronze)

You think being this good is easy? Let's see you win 3 Ranked Matches in a row, champ!

– Fivepeat (Bronze)

This is your real power, child? Show me it's not luck by winning 5 Ranked Matches in a row!

Suck online? Want these trophies? Here's a simple solution! Get a friend whom also plays online, and just trade winning 3/5/10 in a row. Simple!

Hurray cheating!

– Moving On Up (Bronze)

Ya need to do anything to reach the top of the food chain! Let's see a Rank Up via Ranked match!

The rank ups online are based on each invididual character's BP (battle point) ranking. I believe to get the D+ ranking you only need around 600 BP. With each win giving around 60BP at this low rank level, I'm sure you can do the math on how long this will take.

Yes, math is scary.

– Now You C Me (Bronze)

I wrestle only the strong! You shall rank up to C if you wanna face me, comrade!

God, Zangief's new alternate costume is amazing…

Oh, right. The trophy.

Uh… You need around 1000BP or so for this.

Mmmm. Zangief.

– Road To Victory (Bronze)

You wanna get that fight money? You're gonna have to win 10 matches online first, sucka!

– Battle Master (Bronze)

Only winners can attain such beauty. Win 30 matches online and I may share my beauty secrets.

Wordly Warrior (Bronze)

Let's do this, amigo! Fight 50 matches online, because that's the only way to become strong!

I DO WANT THAT FIGHT MONEY. But, that isn't the point. Just keep playing online. Even if you're awful you'll eventually stumble across the required amount of idiots to get these trophies.

– Team Player (Bronze)

A 1-on-1 fight is fun, but it's more fun with friends! Try fighting in a Team Battle!

– Team Mate (Bronze)

Win 1 Team Battle match, and you will learn that teamwork can help you become stronger!

-Teamworker (Bronze)

A pro can win with any team. Win 10 Team Battles but don't forget, you have to win too!

Team Battle is typically a lot more fun if you know the person you're playing with, though it isn't really required. Just queue up for a team  battle and you'll get there eventually.

– Keep On Truckin` (Bronze)

If you want to focus on nothing but the fight, entering an Endless Battle is for you!

– Three For The Road (Bronze)

In the pursuit of strength, one must have a goal! In Endless Battle, win 3 matches in a row.

Your mother used to be an irish prostitute you know… Those days were different, though.

– Replayer (Bronze)

Watch 30 Replays via the Replay Channel! Isn't it fun watching people go at it tooth and nail?

This trophy can actually be educational. I've picked up a lot of tricks and information on how people tend to play online by watching the replay channel. At the very least, watching replays of other players using a character you like can be benefical in the sense that you can see how said player is played by most.

– Endless Lobbiest (Bronze)

It's only natural for warriors to seek fights! Create 30 Endless Battle lobbies!

– Team Lobbiest (Bronze)

Hey mon, battlin' is fun, no? Go out and create 30 Team Battle lobbies and enjoy the rhythm!

Simple stuff here as well. Just create 30 of each. You don't have to play the matches for it to count.

– Quarter Up (Bronze)

Fight 30 opponents via Arcade Fight Request. It'd be easy with the right bait, he he.

I would actually reccommend Fight Request as the choice way to play online. It not only cuts down on the time you are sitting around looking at menus instead of playing, but also seems to connect on a more regular basis than using custom match or match search. Maybe it's just my system, but those always seem to say connection failed.

– Iconoclast (Silver)

Oh my gosh, those Icons are so adorable! Don-chan and I gotta catch 'em all!

Ah, these will take some work. This trophy involves clearing all of the trials, completing around 250 matches online, and beating arcade mode with every character on at least medium difficulty.

So, in other words, don't worry about it. It'll come eventually.

– Special Movement (Silver)

Do a Special Move 100 times! If you're a true student of the Rindo-kan dojo, it's your duty!

Surprisingly easy for a silver trophy. Just go about your business in any mode and it'll come.

– Speed Freak (Silver)

Finish each round in Arcade Mode on Medium or higher in 20 seconds or less. Too easy.

Eek. This will take some coordination (especially with the Seth fight). I would suggest going on medium and picking an offensive minded or a speed based character. You'll want to be on the offensive at every moment. My picks would be either Ibuki (for her ability to close gaps quickly and combo into a dizzy state) or Makoto (who is practically built around the idea of always staying on the offensive).

– Tenpeat (Silver)

Don't hold back your true potential! Win 10 Ranked Matches in a row!

I'll admit, when I got this trophy I wasn't even paying attention to the number of wins I had online in a row at the time. But, if you're dead set on having this trophy and you're not all that great online, use the method listed earlier for the three and five in a row trophies.

  – From C To Shining C (Silver)

You think you're good don't you? Prove it by ranking up all characters to C Rank!

So, there I was, can of gravy in one hand, telephone book in the other. And THAT is a true story.

Oh, right. Trophy.

To get this trophy, you'll need round about 1000BP with each individual character. Have fun with that.

– Legendary Fighter (Silver)

I shall make you the right hand of Shadaloo if you can win 100 matches online!

Fight and fight and fight and fight and fight and fight and fight and….

– Bring It On! (Silver)

No comrade, this will not do! We must become stronger, for our fans! Fight 100 matches online!

…. Fight and fight and fight and fight and fight and fight and fight….

– Endless Ten (Silver)

Throw away your fears and focus on the fight! Win 10 fights in a row in Endless Battle!

The tactic for winning ten fights in a row in ranked applies here as well. Feel free. Might as well.

– Trial Athlete (Gold)

I shall assimilate all and be all-powerful! Clear all Trial Mode challenges, and so can you!

Ugh. I hate you, Capcom. I really do. At least now I have a reason for feeling so. Ya know, besides releasing Bionic Commando.

– This Is Madness! (Gold)

Fighting is fun, huh? Well then, let's aim for 300 matches online fought, OK buddy?

This was probably my proudest moment in SSF online to this point. Especially because i managed to beat a B ranked player to get that 300th match.

– Trophy Collector

Attain all Trophies! The path of the warrior demands this from those who walk on it!

So, there you have it. All the trophies from SSFIV.

Now, go! Fight!

Or at least go outside.
