Every so often a new book, comic or other form of reading material comes out, that relates to video games and we want to bring to your attention the best of the best.
This weeks choice is one that I hold dear to my heart, especially because I love the franchise that it is associated with and because it continues the story directly from the last game. This weeks Gaming on Paper is:
Mass Effect Retribution
Release Date: July 27, 2010
Author: Drew Karpyshyn
Genre: Sci-Fi
Mass Effect Retribution is the third book written by Drew Karpyshyn in the Mass Effect universe. It begins directly where Mass Effect 2 left off, so if you haven't played Mass Effect 2, then I implore you to do so before you begin reading Retribution as it will contain spoilers.
Like the first two books in Drew Karpyshyn's series, Retribution's story is canon and focuses on many of the important characters that are in the actual Mass Effect games. As in his previous works, Drew Karpyshyn does an excellent job of creating a rich story with believable characters that you hope you will get to meet in the next game; either to kill or befriend. It is a fantastic read and a definite pick-up if you are a Mass Effect fan and are looking to continue the amazing story and fill time until Mass Effect 3 eventually hits.
On another note, I recommend checking out Drew's first two Mass Effect books; Mass Effect Revelation and Mass Effect Ascension, as they are both excellent reads and really provide great insight into many of the characters that were in the first and second games.
