The top XXVII WWE All-Stars roster snubs

Welcome guys and gals to another list. Yes, you read that right. I’m still taking a break from writing reviews and after the fun I had writing my last top 10 list, I have decided to do it again. But this time I wanted to take on something a little more ambitious.

After seeing so many commentaries and lists complaining about missing characters from the Marvel Vs Capcom 3 roster, I decided to do something similar but with a fighting game I feel may fly under everybody's radar.

Yes. I'm here today to bitch about the wrestlers from both the current and past rosters that didn't make the cut in THQ's upcoming arcade fighter, WWE All-Stars. Although, I should note that I wrote this list for the mere fun of it and I wasn't really trying to go on a big tirade or anything. I am just a little surprised that the roster is as small as it is (most other WWE games have rosters that are 60-70 plus) but after reading more about the game, I can see why the roster is the size that it is. However, I still want to present to you the list of the top XXVII (in honor of Wrestlemania XXVII) wrestlers that didn't make the cut. 

It should also be said that all stables and tag teams will appear as a solo entity and the list is really two lists comprising of the top 10 current talent and top 17 legends. I just wanted to clear that up to avoid confusion later on.

Current Superstars:

10- William Regal

This former Intercontinental Champion, European Champion, World Tag Team Champion and King of The Ring, is a legend in his own right. Regal has been entertaining fans since wrestling as a part of the British carnival circuit at the age of fifteen and has gone on to win 60 championships world-wide, with four of those being held during his run in WWE’s old rival (which they bought out a decade ago) WCW and another 15 of them were held within the WWE itself. Through his smash mouth and very technical style, this devious English gentleman has become a well-known face in the WWE over the past decade. Although he has gone from being a Lumberjack, to the Raw General Manger, to King of The Ring, to a jobber who gets the occasional win on Superstars. Regardless of his current status, the mere facts that he has been around so long and he makes anyone who steps in the ring with look legitimate, he is more than worthy of a spot on the roster.  

9- Goldust

Speaking of Legends who are still active members of the locker room, Dustin Rhodes (son of the American Dream Dusty Rhodes and brother of Dashing Cody Rhodes) has been following in his dad’s footsteps since 1988. Sure, he wrestled with some Texas cowboy gimmicks similar to his father’s common man character. But fans know him best as the “Bizarre One” Goldust. When he debuted (or re-debuted I should say) in the WWE in 1995, he was an eccentric weirdo with an obsession with cinema and homoerotic/stalkerish tendencies. Now he’s just an eccentric weirdo who will occasionally kick his opponents in the junk. He calls that one the Golden Globes! But seriously, the dude is a talented worker and it is sad to see him and Regal being treated as jobbers for just about everyone else on the roster.

But still, I’ll never forget the name: Goldust.

8- Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov

Santino Marella’s exclusion definitely comes off as a bit of a surprise to me. Sure his overall, jobber like weakness doesn’t exactly make him the ideal choice to go up against the likes of Hulk Hogan and The Rock but the WWE has used him quite prominently as comedy relief. Not too mention, he is a two time Intercontinental Champion (who could forget the Honk A Meter?) and he is also a former Tag Team Champion with his current partner Vladamir Kozlov. Not too mention that he won the Divas Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 25. Come on now. Every fighting game should have a Dan Hibiki.

Billed from Russia, “The Moscow Mauler” Vladamir Kozlov is (in real life) an accomplished master of martial arts and a completely legit fighter who is capable of causing some serious pain to all those who oppose him. But you wouldn’t think that since his pairing with Santino. Nowadays, the former Sambo champion has become a much gentler and more comedic character (and host of the occasionally tea party), although his roughneck streak does comeback when pissed off hard enough.

7- Evan Bourne

This high flying, human highlight reel has quickly joined the likes of Rey Mysterio in the cursierweight elite in the eyes of many wrestling fans around the world. Sadly, every time it seems that Evan (real name Matt Sydal) is going to get a push (teaming with John Cena, beating Sheamus), WWE quickly dashes all of that and leaves him wandering into obscurity. His exclusion from the WWE All-Stars roster is yet another glaring example of how the WWE is a big man’s world. That is unless you can move an insane amount of merchandise, like say a Lucha mask.     

6- The Nexus (Husky Harris, Micheal Mcgillicuty, David Otunga, Skip Sheffield & Mason Ryan)

What can I say about the Nexus? They have really gone through a real transformation haven’t they? The angry NXT rookies have gone from becoming the hottest pro wrestling angle, destroying everything and everyone in their path to becoming mere cannon fodder for CM Punk. But that’s neither here, nor there. The fact that the Nexus have been left out of WWE All-Stars after making such an impact on the product, not too mention after being DLC for Smackdown Vs Raw 2011, is a little bit surprising to me. Sure they don’t have to add every member, I mean Skip Sheffield has been injured since the summer and Mason Ryan has only been on the main roster since January but David Otunga (or as I call him, Mr. Jennifer Hudson), Husky Harris (son of I.R.S.) and Michael McGuillicuty could have joined their leader CM Punk as part of the roster. Besides, McGuillicuty is actually the son of Mr. Perfect, which could have made for an interest father Vs son match up. But since he and Harris are being sent back to FCW to be given a new gimmick, I guess it’s for the best that they didn’t make the cut.

5- The Corre (Wade Barrett, Heath Slater, Justin Gabriel and Ezekiel Jackson)

Let me introduce you to The Corre (or as I like to call them, the three successful members of the Nexus and Ezekiel Jackson), the new rebel youth movement stable that has been causing quite the stir on Smackdown. After being ousted by CM Punk, Wade Barrett retreated to Smackdown and along with Gabriel and Slater (who left Nexus after refusing to beat each other silly with kendo sticks as part of some ritual sacrifice thingy) and the final ECW Champion Ezekiel Jackson has put Friday Nights on notice. With Barrett being the leader of this group and former leader of Nexus, he has main evented shows for both WWE brands for the past nine months. Gabriel and Slater have not only become an established tag team but have won the WWE Tag Team Championships three times. Jackson is an incredibly intimidating look man, with the strength to back up his bad attitude (he can power slam Big Show who is over 400 pounds nuff said), he won a 25 man battle royal at Wrestlemania last year and as I said, was the last man to win the ECW title. I find it strange that with Barrett, Slater and Gabriel making such a big impact and with Jackson seemingly being due for a big push in the future, that they are not present here. Although, Jackson would be by himself and the other three would be in Nexus garb as they were in Smackdown Vs Raw 2011 because they have only been together as The Corre since January.  

4- Alberto Del Rio

His name is Alberto Del RRRiiiioooooooooo. But you already knew that. Since his debut last summer, the Mexican aristocrat, Lucha Libre legend and former MMA fighter, took the Smackdown brand by storm with his arrogant rich man Heel persona and his pure wrestling talent. He had a long standing feud with fellow Luchadore Rey Mysterio, injured long time fan favorite Christian (in storyline), competed for the World Heavyweight Championship in a solid Four Way TLC Match (with Edge, Kane, Mysterio) and of course his biggest accomplish, winning the Royal Rumble to get another shot at the World Title in the main event at Wrestlemania. It is because of his vast success since the short time that he has been with the company that I am sucked that he wasn’t at least been announced as a DLC character.

If he becomes DLC in the future, please THQ, make His personal ring announcer Ricardo Rodriguez part of the add on.

3- Daniel Bryan

Possibly the most talented performer to get picked up by the WWE over the past few years, “The American Dragon” Brian Danielson, whoops. I mean Daniel Bryan, has gone from being eliminated from NXT season 1 (due to storyline BS) and getting fired for choking some dude with a necktie (storyline that became real for some reason), to feuding and defeating the current WWE champion The Miz to win the United States Championship. Die fans consider him to be one of the best on the planet and his skill level has even made him a favorite among casual fans, despite his slight lack of charisma. That’s why his being left out is a bit of a mystery to me. He has been with the company for over a year now, although he didn’t become as big as he is now until after the game was in the starting stages of development. Even still, there was plenty of time to at least add him as DLC character. 

2- Dolph Ziggler

Out of all of the stars that the WWE has created over the past two/three years, Dolph Ziggler is among the best. This former male cheerleader went from being known as a stupid surfer dude with a jobber name to being to this generation’s Mr. Perfect (the gimmick is kind of similar). As a former Intercontinental Champion, Ziggler has put on some fantastic matches with some of the company’s top stars like Rey Mysterio, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Daniel Bryan, John Cena and most noticeably during his feud with World Heavyweight Champion Edge. Hell, he would even go on to become the World Champion just a few weeks ago (sure it was by a stupid DQ victory and the reign only lasted for a mere 11 minutes but the point remains valid). With Ziggler’s solid work rate and the fact that he is among the top heels of the current youth movement, I am greatly surprised by his absence from the WWE All-Stars roster. I know some of the bigger feuds have happened during the game’s development period but the build up for Ziggler’s push has been going on for at least two years now. That’s why I’m shocked that he’s missing from the roster. That and it would have been great to see him square off against Henning.

 

1- Christian

Wow. Talk about your snubs. Captain Charisma has been mainstay in professional since the days of WWE’s Attitude Era when he and Edge became one of the promotion’s hottest tag teams, winning the World Tag Team Championships seven times. However, his success wasn’t just limited to the tag team division. He is a former Light Heavyweight Champion, European Champion, Hardcore Champion and after breaking up with Edge, he has gone on to win the Intercontinental Championship three times, as well as the World Tag Team Championships twice more with Chris Jericho (once) and Lance Storm (once). Eventually, Christian left the WWE and would spend three years in TNA, winning their World Title (which was the NWA World title at the time) on two separate occasions. Once these three years were up, he headed back to WWE and instantly became a fan favorite all over again when he became the top gun on the now defunct ECW brand and would become a two time ECW Champion. Now he’s on Smackdown, making up-in-comers in the mid-card look like a million bucks and since he’s been back from an injury that put him on the shelf for six months, he seems poised to enter into the World title hunt and possibly get into the Edge/Del Rio main event at Wrestlemania in some capacity.

I guess, what I am trying to say is that I am wondering why a guy who can get the fans to love or hate him at the drop of a hat and who has been an important player not only during the company’s second heyday but also currently, could have been left out of a game that sports Legends against the current generation?

WWE Legends:

17- "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel & Booker  T (thank you Main Event Mafia (TNA) and lame NWO reboot for letting this tie technically happen)

What can I say about “Big Daddy Cool?” He debuted in the WWE as the bodyguard of Shawn Micheals, whom he would eventually win the World Tag Team Championships with, as well as have a brief stint (cup of coffee brief) as Intercontinental Champion. “Big Sexy” is also a former WWE Champion (held the title for year in 1994-95) and was one of the founding members of the N.W.O. (after jumping ship to WCW) and was a six WCW Tag Team Champion as one half of The Outsiders (with Scott Hall), a two time tag champ with Diamond Dallas Page and a one time tag champion with Sting. And of course he was a five time WCW World Heavyweight Champion. In 2002, he would return to the WWE along with Hulk Hogan and Scott Hall as the N.W.O. (which failed this time around) but that was short lived but he would rebound a year later to feud with his old friend Triple H for the World title but he would leave a few months after. He would spend a few years in TNA and win a few titles before returning to the WWE at this year’s Royal Rumble and singing a five-year Legends Contract.  

If that isn’t reason enough to put him in WWE All-Stars, his size and power put him on par with performers like Hogan, Cena, Andre and Big Show and let’s face it, performing a Jackknife Power Bomb would look awesome with these gameplay physics.

Booker T is a five time, five time, five time WCW (and one time WWE World Heavyweight) Champion, has been one of the WWE’s most reliable performers during the 2000’s in both the Mid-card and Main Event rankings on both the Raw and Smackdown brands. He has been a US, Intercontinental, Hardcore, Tag Team and World Heavyweight Champion and has even won the King of Ring Tournament in 2006, which resulted in the brief but memorable King Booker character. Sure his real life beefs against Triple H and Batista caused a big enough rift for him to leave the company in 2007 and spend a couple of years in TNA but he has made peace with the WWE since then and has even made a return to the company earlier this year, with Nash during the Royal Rumble and has since become the color commentator for Smackdown and a trainer for the upcoming season of Tough Enough.

Like Diesel, he is ranked lower than some of the other Legends because he is more likely to be a DLC character if more were to be announced. If not, I’ll be a bit disappointed because I would love to see a spinaroonie done in mid-air God damn it!  

16- John Bradshaw Layfield

 This man has come quite a long way since his lame Yosemite Sam gimmick back in his 1996 debut in the WWE and his stint with Barry Windham as half of the New Blackjacks. He became a real success when joined The Undertaker’s Ministry of Darkness and was paired with long time friend Ron Simmons to form one of my all time favorite tag teams, The Acolytes, which would later become the Acolytes Protection Agency or APA after their split from the Ministry. During his time of drinking, chain smoking, womanizing, playing cards and kicking ass, Bradshaw was investing his money in the stock market and would eventually become the multi-millionaire, Wall Street tycoon known as John Bradshaw Layfield in 2004. Bradshaw would instantly get a WWE title shot after showing then Smackdown GM Kurt Angle a video clip of him assaulting would be illegal immigrants at the US/Mexican border (I can’t make something like this up). He would then win the WWE title from champion Eddie Guerrero and would hold the title for a year, making him the longest reigning World Champion in the history of the Smackdown brand. A year later he would have a brief stint as United States Champion before retiring to become a commentator but he would return to the ring on the Raw brand in 2007 and would chase after the World title before going back to Smackdown to win the Intercontinental Title in 2009 before retiring for good after dropping the title to Rey Mysterio at Wrestlemania 25.

Why Should the self proclaimed “Wrestling God” be given a spot on the WWE All-Stars roster? Well, his evil Republican (he was a Fox News correspondent for real) rich man persona that looks kinda like Harrison Ford from American Graffiti, is truly an amazing heel character that is instantly unlikable (in a good way), that and his high impact style of wrestling would be perfect for a game like this.     
 

15- Doink The Clown

The once evil clown who made a living scaring small children, Doink The Clown became one of the most beloved babyfaces of the WWE’s “New Generation Era (mid 90s),” when he would play pranks on hated Heels like Bam Bam Bigalow, Crush and most notably his former employer Jerry “The King” Lawler. Over the past decade, the Doink character (portrayed by different people) has made several appearances as a Legend on WWE programming and has even been a DLC character in past Smackdown Vs Raw titles.

But that’s not why I’m surprised that Doink didn’t make the cut here. I’m surprised because the WWE All-Stars fighting system is literally screaming for a character like Doink to come along and cause the mayhem he did in WWF Wreslemania: The Arcade Game. I would love to see modern day villains get smashed around with fake limbs, giant hands, prop hammers and of course get shocked by the joy buzzer. Hell, it would be even cooler if he had the field goal kick move he had in the Monday Night Raw SNES/Genesis game.

14- The Honky Tonk Man

Oh yeah! Now it’s time to get a little Honky Tonky! The Honky Tonk Man’s cocky and bad attitude made his Elvis impersonator gimmick one of the most recognizable and hated heel characters ever. Not only that but it made him the longest reigning Intercontinental Champion of all time, with a 15 month reign that began with a victory over Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat on the June 13, 1987 episode of Superstars. I really would have liked to see him bust some whippersnapper’s head with one of his custom made guitars. Oh well.

13- "Superstar" Billy Graham

Perhaps the WWE’s original Badass, “The Reflection of Perfection,” “The Ladies Pet,” “The Men’s Regret,” “Superstar” Billy Graham made those backs crack and livers quiver, as one of professional wrestling’s first charismatic big men. Graham’s psychedelic sense of style and Mohammad Ali inspired promos were truly ahead of their time and made him an instant success among wrestling fans and one of the top heels of the 1970s. After defeating long time champion Bruno Sammartino for the WWE (then WWWF) Championship, fans absolutely loved to hate him but they were slowly being to love him and a face turn seemed inevitable but Vince Sr. (who was running the company at the time) didn’t like the idea of an anti-hero character being the World Champion, so he quickly dropped the belt to my number 12 choice. He would appear on and off in different promotions during the 80’s but he would be put on the sidelines permanently after a very nasty leg injury (due to his abuse of steroids). I know he may have burned a bridge by bad mouthing the company and selling his WWE Hall of Fame ring on eBay after being let go from WWE’s creative team a few years back. But I figured that if he could fix a previous burnt bridge, I don't think that making nice with Vince for a second time would be out of the realm of possibility.

12- Bob Backlund

The last great champion to come out of the Vince Sr. Era, “The All American Boy” Bob Backlund, held the WWE Championship for five years (the second longest reign ever) after defeating Billy Graham. Thanks to his vastly superior technical style (due to his amateur background) he was able to dominate his opponents. In fact he only lost the title to The Iron Sheik in 1984 because his manager threw in the towel, as he blacked out in the Sheik’s camel clutch. He left the company shortly afterward and wasn’t seen again until 1992 when he re-debuted but his hard time adjusting to this new wrestling generation turned him into an insane psychopath (which was far from his previous clean cut, Richie Cunningham like persona) that would brutally attack the babyfaces (Bret Hart being his favorite target) and eventually run for president. He did win the WWE title for a second time during this run but he would only hold it for three days before losing it to Diesel in the shortest WWE Championship match in history (10 seconds). I think it would have been neat to see “The All American Boy” face off against “The All American American” Jack Swagger in a Superman Vs Bizarro type situation but oh well.     
                                                                      

11- Jim "The Anvil" Niedhart with Jimmy Hart

Perhaps further proof that the current WWE doesn’t care about tag team wrestling, Jim “The Anvil” Niedhart has been left out of WWE All-Stars and hopes of another Hart Foundation reunion (in video game form) have been dashed. This 281 pound mountain of pure insanity became famous in the WWE during the late 80s/early 90s as one half of The Hart Foundation with Bret “The Hitman” Hart. With manager “The Mouth of the South” Jimmy Hart by their side, they would win two World Tag Team Championships before breaking up in 1991. He would leave for a brief stint in WCW to team with Junkyard Dog in 1993 but would return to manage Owen Hart during his feud with Bret over the WWE Championship in 94 and would leave again shortly after. He returned to WWE yet again in 96 to wrestle as the jobber character Who and would comeback as himself for a brief time in 97 as part of the Hart Foundation stable (with Bret, Owen, Bulldog and Brian Pillman) which feuded with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels and the United States of America. He would leave the company shortly after Bret Hart’s infamous departure for WCW and wouldn’t be seen again in WWE until Raw’s 15th Anniversary special, which aired on December 10, 2007.

Considering Bret’s involvement in the game and the fact that his daughter Natalya is currently wresting in the Divas division (and as a former Divas Champion), I really thought he would be given a spot. By the way, why isn’t Jimmy Hart in the game as a manager? With all of the legends (including Honky Tonk Man) he has managed over the years, shouldn’t he be given his due as well?      
 

10- "Cowboy" Bob Orton Jr.

“Cowboy” Bob Orton Jr.’s absence surprises me not only because of the potential to have him face his son Randy in the video game arena but because of his tenure in the WWE actually calls for him to be here. He was employed by Roddy Piper (the biggest villain of the Rock N Wrestling Connection) to be his enforcer, during his feud with Hulk Hogan. He has also provided many other great moments during his time with Piper and even during his own feud with Piper (when Piper turned face) when he became the bodyguard of Roddy’s nemesis, Adrian Adonis. That and he is a great wrestler and one tough son of bitch!

Oh and if he is added later on as DLC, please THQ. Put the cast on him!   

9- Yokozuna with Mr. Fuji

Another left out Legend from the “New Generation Era,” the 600 plus pound sumo champion  (in storyline) Yokozuna (which is Japanese for champion. How ironic) became one of the fastest rising stars in WWE history when he won the 1993 Royal Rumble and then went on to win the WWE Championship from Bret Hart at Wrestlemania IX and then again from Hulk Hogan at that year’s King of the Ring. After losing the WWE title back to the Hitman at Wrestlemania X, Yokozuna would find further success in the tag team ranks, winning the World Tag Team Championships with Owen Hart on two separate occasions before turning face and feuding with Jim Cornette’s stable of wrestlers which included Owen, The British Bulldog and Vader. Once this feud was over he left the company. Sadly, he passed away at the age of 34 in 2000.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen this larger than life superstar make it into the game because it would have been absolutely awesome to see him land a bunzai drop from 20 ft in the air!  Would it also be too much to ask if his first manager, the devious Mr. Fuji to appear with him?

8- The Demolition (Axe & Smash…and maybe Crush)

Further proof that the current WWE creative team doesn’t care about tag teams, is the fact that they have left out one of their most popular tag teams of all time, The Demolition who have held the World Tag Team titles three times during their stint with the company (which was the late 80’s-early 90’s). These heavy metal inspired freaks had legendary feuds with the likes of Haku & Andre the Giant, The Rockers, Strike Force and of course The Road Warriors (one of only two teams in the game and they are DLC). Come on now WWE. Give your tag teams some love.

7- "The Bad Guy" Razor Ramon

Listen chico. How could you have a wrestling legends game without the bad guy? A four time Intercontinental Champion, who has had legendary feuds with Shawn Michaels (resulting in 2 superb ladder matches) Jeff Jarrett, Bret Hart, Randy Savage, The 123 Kid, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase, and Goldust. As both the Heel who joined forces with Ric Flair and Ted DiBiase and the face that took the 123 Kid under his wing and took trash talkers like HBK and Double J to school, Razor Ramon was one of the hottest stars of the “New Generation Era.” As we all know, after his departure from the company in 96, Hall would join up with Kevin Nash and Hulk Hogan to create the New World Order in WCW. There he was a seven time Tag Team Champion (six with Nash and one with The Big Show), and a former Television and United States Champion. In 2002 he returned to the WWE as part of the brief N.W.O. reboot and would feud with “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Bradshaw before leaving the company for good. Since then he has been appearing on and off in TNA and has been a Tag Champ there as well.

His exclusion did surprise me. I know Hall has had a few personal troubles over the past few years (which WWE helped him with recently, which adds to my surprise as to why he’s not here) but he is still one of the most popular performers that the WWE had during the 90s and was a great performer. I would have loved to given some young upstart punk a Razor’s Edge.       

6- "The British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith with Jim Cornette

One of my childhood favorites, the late great, “British Bulldog” entered the WWE during the 1980’s in the tag team ranks as one half of the legendary British Bulldogs and with their manager, Captain Lou Albano (many of you know him as Mario) would win the tag titles and hold them for 294 days. During the 90’s he would become the Intercontinental Champion after an amazing bout against Bret Hart at Summerslam 92. After losing the title to Shawn Micahels, he left for WCW and lost in a World title bout with Vader. In 94, he made his return to WWE and formed a tag team with Lex Luger called The Allied Powers. He would later chase after the Hitman once but this time it would for the WWE title but he would ultimately fail. But he would find success as a tag team once again with his other brother in law Owen Hart, with whom he would win the Tag Team Championships with in 1996. In 1997, he joined his brothers in law in their war against America and become the company’s very first European Champion. Once Bret left for WCW, he would join him but after little success, he would return to the WWE for one final brief run, where he won the European title for a second time, as well as his first and only Hardcore title. He passed away of heart attack in 2002.

Not only does his absence surprise me because of his son’s current position with the company (he was snubbed from the game as well) but also he was recently featured as DLC for Smackdown Vs Raw 2011 along with Lex Luger. That and he was an important figure in the company and was one of the best power wrestlers they have ever had.  If he does make it in eventually as DLC, it would be a really cool treat to see Jim Cornette as his manager.  

5- Mick Foley

I don’t I really have to explain who Mick Foley is do I? The man who as Cactus Jack feuded with the likes of Ric Flair and Sting in WCW, tore it up in ECW against the likes of Public Enemy, Sandman and Terry Funk and in WWE took Triple H to Hell and back on three occasions. The man who as Dude Love won the World Tag Team Championships with Steve Austin. The man who as Mankind became the first ever Hardcore Champion, took Shawn Michaels to his limits at Mind Games, the man who went to war with The Undertaker, the man who with the Rock formed the Rock N Sock and won tag team gold (as well as with Al Snow and Kane) and the man who became a Three Time WWE Champion, as well as one of the biggest stars of the Attitude because of hardcore style and the sacrifice he put his body through to entertain the fans.  

I know his current TNA status and the blow out he had with McMahon before leaving WWE is likely the cause here but if Dixie Carter let Hogan have control over his image, I really can’t see why she wouldn’t have done the same for Foley. Besides, I thought he made a mends with WWE? After all, they did interview him to help promote his latest book but maybe the wounds aren’t quite healed enough for the “Hardcore Legend” who left an ear in Germany, buckets of blood in Japan and has broken bones on just about every continent a spot on the WWE All-Stars roster.

You know, THQ. Cactus Jack, Dude Love and Mankind would make for some great alternate costumes if you decide to change your mind.

Fun fact: Foley is the only man to compete in the same Royal Rumble match three times, using each of his gimmicks to gain entry. Sadly, his bout of schizophrenia wasn’t enough for him to win.

4- The Junkyard Dog

One of the most charismatic superstars of the 1980’s, The Junkyard Dog was an instant fan favorite, with his steel dog chain, his high impact move set and overall likable personality. He was a gracious performer who overcame racism and always voiced his appreciation for the fans that cheered for him every single night. During his time in the WWE and WCW, he would feud with the likes of Harley Race, Kamala, Adrian Adonis, King Kong Bundy, Terry Funk, “The Million Dollar Man” Ted DiBiase and “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. JYD passed away in 1998 in tragic car accident.

JYD is one of my childhood favorites and I would love to deliver some headbutts, before hitting a jabroni with the Thump and then celebrate by doing the Juke.

3- "Ravishing" Rick Rude with Bobby "The Brain" Heenan

All you “Ham and Eggers” better show respect to the self-proclaimed, “Sexiest man alive,” “Ravishing” Rick Rude. During his WWE run, he would quickly become on of the hottest villains of the 1980’s because of his feuds with Jake “The Snake” Roberts and The Ultimate Warrior (the biggest face at the time next to Hogan) during which he would win and lose his only Intercontinental Championship. He also had a note worthy feud with Roddy Piper. But he would leave the company before a potential feud with The Big Boss Man to go to WCW where he would feud with Dustin Rhodes to win his only United States Championship and with Sting to win the WCW International Heavyweight Championship three times. He would also have a brief stint in ECW before returning to the WWE in 97 to act as Degeneration X’s “Insurance policy” but would leave months later (in controversial fashion) for one last stint in WCW.  Sadly, like other entries on the list, Rude is no longer with us. He past away in 1999 of a heart attack.

Not only would it have been great to see him give somebody a “Rude Awakening” (which would look really cool with All-Stars physics defying physics) but it would also have been good to see him paired with Bobby “The Brain” Heenan again. Now that think of it, why can’t “The Brain” (the greatest manger and heel commentator of all time) appear in All-Stars as a manager?  

2- The Iron Sheik

Here we go. How could you have a legends video game without The Iron Sheik? The proud Iranian wrestler who would dare to disrespect America and pummel their babyface wrestlers without mercy. The man who ended the five year championship reign of “The All American Boy.” The man who launched Hulk Hogan to stardom. The man who took American hero Sgt. Slaughter too the limit. The man who teamed up with communist Russian Nikoli Volkoff to win the World Tag Team titles. It didn’t matter who he feuded with, The Iron Sheik was able to bring out the very best out of his opponents, while at the same time, putting himself over as the ultimate bad guy. And of course he was solid wrestler to boot. Come on now WWE. Are you really going to let a few angry rants on shock jock radio shows, stop you showcasing one of the best heels you have ever had?

1- "The Nature Boy" Rick Flair & The Brain Busters

This in my mind is the snub of snubs. I could go on listing all of the combined accomplishments of The 16 time World Champion Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen but that would take all day (and quite frankly I’m sure you’re bored enough if you made this far). I am just going to say that Flair is to the heel what Hulk Hogan is to the babyface and the Four Horsemen were to the 80s, what D-X and the N.W.O. were to the 90s. Not to mention that Flair, Anderson, and Blanchard are among the greatest wrestlers to ever lace up a pair of boots and are more deserving of a spot on the roster than anyone else on this list.

I know Flair may have caused a rift with WWE when he moved to TNA and continued to wrestle even though he was supposed to retire after losing to HBK at Wrestlemania 24. But he is one of the best and biggest names that they have ever had and like I said with Foley, working for the competition shouldn’t have been an issue here.

As far as Arn and Tully go, I really don’t know how they could have gotten snubbed, considering that they work for the company as road agents.

I really would have liked to have seen the three horsemen that made the biggest impact in the WWE tear things up in All-Stars but oh well.
