"It's not really a game…so don't expect too much gameplay in this," explained Q Games' Dylan Cuthbert, as musician Baiyon began to demo the company's new…er, application…the PlayStation Move-exclusive Pixeljunk Lifelike. Via a series of Move wand waves, waggles, and twists, Baiyon created an evolving soundscape that was good enough for any club or chill-out room, all accompanied by a constantly changing, kaleidoscopic visualizer.

"We've created an audio canvas with the Move controller," said Cuthbert, after Baiyon's 15-minute demo came to a close. A diagonal swipe of the controller adds a new track, while lateral and up-and-down motions affect multiple aspects of the music based on what face button you press. At one point Baiyon mumbled into a headset mic and vocoder-ified speech came through the speakers. "You don't have to be Baiyon to sound that good. Anyone can pick up the controller and just play with it, and get interesting sounds out of the system," said Cuthbert. Baiyon did create all of the tracks and much of the art for Lifestyle, though, so being Baiyon probably does help a bit.

If you do sound that good, though, you might find an audience beyond your living room. Cuthbert said that Lifelike will let gamers broadcast their performances live via PSN, for anyone to drop in on and check out. The audience will be able to provide some kind of feedback, and might even be able to participate in the show, although it sounds like details on that are still TBD. A two-player mode is also on the planned-features list.

You'll be able to save your performances for posterity, too, although remixes are definitely out: "I believe everyone's creation is their own. I got annoyed in Littlebigplanet when my levels got changed and redistributed. I forgot to check the little box," said Cuthbert.
