Considering the number of hours I spent playing the original Phantasy Star Online for the Dreamcast, the news that they’re making a true sequel was practically music to my ears. The rest of 2011 is going to be freaking awesome.
Video Blips:
• Phantasy Star Online 2 is right around the corner! Rest easy, fans of the original, for you shall feed your mags and squander meseta once more.
Continue after the break for the peculiar story of Anarchy Reigns, a real Street Fighter X Tekken fight, and a developer diary for Skulls of the Shogun.
• I’ve seen some odd storylines in my day, but that of Anarchy Reigns takes the cake. And what’s the best way to remind your audience that your game comes from Japan? Name one of your brutish characters “Gayman.” I’m not kidding…watch the trailer.
• It seems like the developers of Street Fighter X Tekken felt pretty passionate about their game. I’m no expert on either series, but I’m pretty sure neither Street Fighter nor Tekken ever had anyone being spanked with a bullwhip.
• Skulls of the Shogun generated a lot of buzz at E3 and won several awards to boot. Imagine what it’s like to be such a small developer yet gain such a large amount of praise. It’s gotta feel like David standing over Goliath. Congrats, Haunted Temple Studios!
