The audio aspect of games receives so little praise. It’s nice when developers provide some perspective on the sound and music of their project, like the developer diary for Deus Ex: Human Revolution found below.
Video Blips:
• Deus Ex: Human Revolution takes place in the future, so there better be some cool gun sounds. I can vaguely hear the whine of the weapon at 2:01 as its inner barrels spin and fire. That’s pretty freakin' neat.
Continue after the break to see the legends of NHL 12, a developer diary for Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, and a trailer for one of the quaint locales in Guild Wars 2.
• The players in this NHL 12 trailer are depicted in such a venerable manner that one might assume they were war veterans of some kind. That makes me feel even more ashamed due to the fact that I only know who Gretzky is.
• The more I see of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, the more I find myself interested in it. Although the fact that these futuristic soldiers are fighting steel-wielding orcs is a bit odd.
• I enjoyed the art style of the original Guild Wars, so it’s no surprise that I’m pretty impressed with the aesthetics of Guild Wars 2. Do people not build houses in fantasy worlds, though? I get that a plant can be the size of a skyscraper, but still…not even hippies live inside of trees.
