Last week iam8bit Productions hosted their 5th video game inspired art show grand opening. The Bitmob video crew went down to LA to check it out and afterwards delicately mashed together this super sweet footage.
Putting the games as art discussion completely aside, events like the iam8bit art show are incredibly important. Iam8bit creates a common ground for game enthusiasts to get out and rub elbows with other game enthusiasts that may not always share the same ideas.
Just because we all play the same games doesn’t mean we think about them or even experience them in the same way. Iam8bit is living breathing proof of that.
It’s both critical and refreshing to have a physical place that reminds us that the community surrounding our favorite medium is diverse, creative, intelligent, and extremely passionate.
If you live near the LA area, you should definitely make a point to go see the gallery in all it’s 8-bit splendor. You can find the gallery hours here. If you don’t live in the LA area you can look at these photos and pretend like you were there. Just make sure to leave a comment. We wouldn’t want to short change the community aspect of something like iam8bit.
