It's been a while, so now it's time to come back with a bang! With this (un-creatively named) new segment, I'll be highlighting a Xbox Indie game for you to try out over the weekend!  Why an Indie game, you might ask? Because they are short, sweet, perfect for the weekend's entertainment, and are cheap to boot.  Also, the real gems of the Indie bundle usually get buried beneath the tons of Avatar and shovelware games, so these little beauties deserve a bit of attention.  So, let's get started, shall we?

TKA!This week's entry in the Xbox Indie Fridays is certainly… an interesting one.  Techno Kitten Adventure! (referred hereafter as TKA!) is a frantic game involving cats, catchy techno songs, and a lot of "Wait, what?" moments.

Anyone that's played or looked at the demo to its predecessor (Techno Kitten Adventure… Yes, there's a difference between the two) likely knows what I'm talking about here: You control a flying cat, using the A button to rise and fall, avoiding obstacles along the way.  Meanwhile, the music continues to play, and the background changes to match to what's going on in the song.  For example, say the song mentions a rainbow. The game will then flash a rainbow across the screen.  Obviously, this is all meant to distract you, and to crash your poor feline into an obstacle and ruin your high score.  I certainly don't want to spoil it for new players, but the distractions can certainly get… distracting.  TKA! is certainly worth trying out not only for your enjoyment, but for your enjoyment of watching your friends freak out and die when the music starts to pick up.

Now, for the actual contents of the game.  There are four songs "packs" (it's just one song per pack, really), and per pack you can choose three kittahs (or four, if you're in the Rainbow Pack).  You can only play said kittahs by achieving a score goal in the pack.  The cats don't really have an effect on the gameplay, though, so it's only work unlocking for completionists and for anesthetics.  As for the songs themselves, I'll leave that to surprise you, though a word of advice… the Meat Pack might be the second song on the list, but try that one last.  Trust me on that.

Meaty

Guess where you meat this kittah?

To make a long story short… are you having a drunken party this weekend?  TKA! is a great party choice.  Hanging out with a few friends? TKA! can entertain you for a few hours.  Got a girlfriend that loves kittens?  Boot up TKA! and chuckle at her surprised responses.  TKA! is certainly campy, and almost borders on being bad, but it's very entertaining, and isn't that what we want most from a videogame?
