From Software, the Dark Souls developer, is reportedly using a fully powered in-game monster to track down and kill players who begin dungeon crawling before the title's official release. Dark Souls was scheduled to hit store shelves tomorrow in Japan, but a few gamers managed to jump through time and get their hands on a copy before From Software said they could. Those people…shouldn’t have done that. Using a feature which allows players to visit other’s games, the developer is murdering characters with a level 145 Black Phantom with all of its abilities at 99. That is pretty rad, but I don’t feel discouraged at all. I would love to be killed by one of the developers running around as a ridiculously high-leveled creature. [GamePro]
Fans of Dance Central can import songs from the first game into the second but only for a fee. I’ve been getting really worked up about this for weeks. I want to get Dance Central 2 to help make my weekly Two and a Half Men afterparties really pop, but some people are always going to want to play songs from the first game. How are we supposed to maintain the momentum that Ashton Kutcher’s comedic timing built up if I have to stop everything to switch discs? Thankfully, Microsoft has revealed via Twitter that they will transfer the songs from Dance Central to Dance Central 2…for $5. That’s a small price to pay to continue celebrating those 2.5 men with hip-hop dance and appletinis.
DICE reveals Battlefield 3’s required hardware. The highly anticipated shooter probably won’t run on the eMachine I bought for my aunt on Black Friday, but most current PCs should be able to handle this list of minimum specifications:

Of course, a rig like that will only just barely get the game up and running. To really get the most from the Frostbite 2.0 graphics engine — which powers the visuals in BF3 — gamers will need around twice the power. DICE recommends 64-bit Windows, 4 GB of RAM, and a DirectX 11-compatible graphics card with a gigabyte of memory. Also, all of that should be packed into a unit with a quad-core processor. Well, at least my Aunt Jan has a mouse and keyboard.
