About 50 wild animals, including tigers, lions, and giraffes, have escaped from a farm in my grandparent’s home town of Zanesville, Ohio. Authorities have captured or killed all of the critters except for one herpetic monkey, which I’m pretty sure is actually just my crazy Uncle Gus.
News Blips:
NFL Blitz will return as a downloadable title. EA seems to have a monopoly on the over-the-top sports games with players who catch on fire. The publisher is reviving the extreme Midway football much in the same way it resurrected NBA Jam. Updated graphics running at a smooth framerate will complement the simple, traditional gameplay. The Tiburon-developed footballer will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in January. Can’t wait to live out my fantasy of catching the Green Bay Packers on fire…I’m kidding!
Battlefield 3 on Xbox 360 won’t require an install, but it’ll be “standard def” without one. “The thing with the 360 is that you need to be able to give consumers a game where you don’t have to install it on a hard drive,” Executive Producer Patrick Bash told Gamerzines. “So we need to give you the option of installing it, rather than just demanding it. You could call it a ‘standard-def’ version for the 360 if you don’t have a hard-drive.” Well, I could call it “standard-def,” but will I? Nope. I’m totally gonna call it the blurry-crap version.
The PlayStation Store opens on PlayStation Certified Android devices. Well, maybe I shouldn’t pluralize “device” quite yet. Presently, the Sony Tablet P is the only PlayStation Certified hardware (outside of the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play). A handful of other Android phones and tablets will gain access at some point but which and when is still unclear. For the eight of you that went with Sony’s Tablet P over Apple’s iPad, here are the PSOne games currently available for $5.99:
Cool Boarders
Destruction Derby
Hot Shots Golf 2
Jet Moto
Jet Moto 2
Jumping Flash!
MediEvil
Motor Toon Grand Prix
Rally Cross
Wild Arms
Wow, Jumping Flash! has to be one of the top five games with an exclamation point in its title ever.
Over half of all gamers bought DLC in 2011. In the last 12 months, 51 percent of people with HD consoles purchased a piece of downloadable content. That’s up significantly from the previous period, which only saw 40 percent of customers pay for digital add-ons. EEDAR, a group of financial analysts, projects that this corner of the market will expand to earn over 1 billion dollars in 2012. Looking at my bank statement, I’m pretty sure I’m responsible for a good chunk of that. These $15 map packs are killing me. [ShackNews]
