Guys, Duke Nukem Forever got delayed again…in Japan. I find it comforting that somewhere the game’s development is still in hell.

News Blips:

News Blips: Assassin's Creed 3 this yearUbisoft announces that Assassin’s Creed 3 will continue the franchise’s annualized exploits on October 30. I have great news! Ubi has apparently remembered how to count. After a few tangential storylines following that spicy meatball Ezio Auditore, the series is returning to numbered installments. That probably means advancement in the lore, but I don’t want to get anyone’s hopes up. I’m currently playing Resident Evil: Revelations and the only thing that’s revealed is that Capcom doesn’t know the definition of “revelation.” Maybe Ubisoft will be different.

Double Fine boss Tim Schafer announces that his studio’s crowd-funded adventure game will be free of piracy-fighting digital rights management and available on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android. Thanks to the 1.8 million dollars that the Kickstarter has raised so far, Schafer promises that the title will be “a little bit better.” That means voice acting in the English version and text translated into EFIGS, which the legendary developer explains is a magical language of the nymphs or something…or maybe it’s an acronym for English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Watch Schaffer struggle to be serious in the video below.

The eastern variety of the Penny Arcade Expo will continue to be in Boston until at least 2023. That’s assuming that the Mayan serpent deity Kukulcan allows our meager rock to continue orbiting the sun beyond 2012. If the awesome snake god is so merciful, then the Massachusetts Convention Center Authority will continue to host PAX East for the next 11 years. Hopefully, this long-term deal will mean that (unlike this year’s) future PAX East dates won’t conflict with the Easter Holidays — as long as that pleases Kukulcan. [Gamasutra]

An unauthorized proof-of-concept Portal clone for Android appears online. Unfortunately, the titular portals aren’t fully functional in this Unity-powered tech demo, so the only concept it seems to be proving is that Unity can produce PC-comparable assets on a mobile device. According to Android Police, this visually impressive piece of software was developed by a fly-by-night group of Russian coders. Unless CEO Gabe Newell opened up a Vavle Siberia, I doubt this is going to end up for sale on the Android Market anytime soon. I don’t have a link to the installable APK file, but shouting “Portal Android APK” at your favorite search engine can’t hurt.
