Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham City Game of the Year (Xbox 360, PS3)

I only accept chiroptophobia as a legitimate excuse for not having played last year’s Batman: Arkham City. If for some reason you were holding out because you were waiting for the inevitable Game of the Year edition that comes jam packed with all DLCs like costumes, challenge maps, and characters, including the epilogue, Harley Quinn’s Revenge that comes out the same week, now you don’t have any excuse at all.

Atelier Meruru: The Apprentice of Arland (PS3)

The collective voice of Atelier fans have been heard. Gust, the developers behind the alchemy based Role Playing game, Atelier series, will once again set their Atelier game in Arland like the previous two Atelier games. Or at least I guess that’s why they decided to set in Arland again. Then again, I can’t even figure out why they decided to have yet another iteration that’s nearly indistinguishable from its predecessors. On the bright side, at least you get to play as the princess that Totori, the alchemist from the last Atelier game, met along her travels and can’t stop thinking about becoming an alchemist herself. I mean playing as a princess is cool right?

Resistance: Burning Skies

Resistance: Burning Skies (Vita)

The PSP has been trying to recreate the home console experience on the go. That has long since failed partially (completely?) because the PSP lacked a second analogue stick nub. Enter the Vita, but more importantly, enter Resistance: Burning Skies. Despite having two analogue sticks, the Vita hasn’t seen a First Person Shooter until now. Set between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, Burning Skies details the Chimeran invasion of the U.S. specifically in New York City. Resistance’s signature weapons wheel complete with a plethora of weapons to fill it will definitely be in Burning Skies along with online multiplayer as well. Let’s hope the touch controls they had to implement to replace the two missing shoulder buttons don’t screw things up.
