Now, here are some of the most disappointing games of 2012… so far

Featuring titles from Square Enix, Namco Bandai, Tecmo Koei, and bunch of others.

I was originally going to pub a few weeks ago as stated in my previous entry. Though "life" has its random ways, and I was out of town/state during that time hence the delay.

I should also clarify that some of these games aren’t exactly the worst of the worst. Some, if not most of them, are still playable and can be worth owning assuming, of course, you’re not paying the full MSRP price tag.

So, again, without further ado — here are some of the most disappointing video games of two thousand twelve, so far:

Amy

It had a lot of potential considering the people involved, plus the fact that they used ICO as one of their inspirations. Sigh.

Final Fantasy XIII-2

True, the combat’s been improved and the monster collecting was, surprisingly, engaging. But the plot was simply atrocious – it makes Terminator 3′s screenplay feel like an Oscar nominee.

SoulCalibur V

The story mode — has Bamco been paying attention to last year’s Mortal Kombat game? Because, quite frankly, that’s how you should do it — especially if you have a huge cast of colorful weapon-wielders. Also, speaking of characters: the new guys are, umm, boring. Most of them at least.

SSX

Pretty positive I’m not alone in this, but there’s just something wrong with this game if you’re a fan of the originals. A solid reintroduction of the franchise, sure, yet I can’t help but feel slightly disappointed with it.

Ninja Gaiden 3

So, wait, hang on: they removed most of the weapons, the item collecting, Muramasa’s shop, the upgrades, and a bunch of other game features that you’d normally find in a Ninja Gaiden game!? The fuck!?! They should’ve just called it “Ninja Gaiden 3: A $20 Experience. You paid $60? We’re so sorry… here, a free DLC with 2 additional weapons. Sigma!”. At least the presentation wasn’t so bad, but still — not good enough!

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City

Don’t. Waste. Your. Time.

Silent Hill: Downpour

Clunky combat + horrible frame rate = unplayable if you ask me, if not “meh”. Konami, in my opinion, really needs to fully revamp their survival horror series big time. We really miss you, Team Silent.

The Amazing Spider-Man

Developer Beenox couldn’t top or even mirror (with improvements, of course) the swinging aspect of everyone’s favorite Spider-Man game (2004′s Spider-Man 2), and that’s very disappointing.
