And the floodgates have opened. The harbinger of the flood that is the fall releases has come upon our store shelves once again. And I’m all out of life vests. Instead I’ll just make one giant inflatable raft called “Coming Soon” for everyone to grab onto. Hope it helps.

Remember. Release dates are quite literally made at the whims of the publisher.  The following are subject to change without any warning.

Releases To Watch For This Week

Madden NFL 13

Madden NFL 13 (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, Vita)

Sunday August 28, 2012

It's August again, so you know what that means. Football season is just around the corner, and Madden's release is set to get us ready for some football! This year Madden 13 is looking to take your football gaming experience to the next level. It's sporting its brand spanking new Infinity Engine which the developers are promising that no two plays will ever look alike. The biggest innovation that the new engine ushers in is the "stumble and recover" feature that makes contact and momentum more true to life, animations more fluid and gameplay more immersive than ever.

Beyond completely overhauling their animations engine Madden 13 is also customizing each of their gameplay experiences for each of the consoles. The Vita will feature front and back panel touch screen inputs to make the most of that consoles features. While the Xbox 360 will feature Kinect integration to give players a wholly new gameplay mechanic with voice commands to call plays, audibles at the line, and hot route commands for you receivers.

When it's all said and done this might just be the biggest advancement in the Madden series since before the series made the jump to the current generations of consoles. Even recovering Maddenholics, like myself, might have a reason to relapse.

Coming This Week

Tuesday August 28, 2012

Damage Inc.: Pacific Squadron WWII (Xbox 360, PS3)

Haven’t had one of these in a while. Choose one of 30 accurately represented WWII aircrafts as you take on over a hundred mission objectives in 23 historically accurate missions. The game disc even comes in historically accurate vinyl instead of the incredibly anachronistic DVD. That last bit might not be true. One slight stand out feature here includes the ability to activate Bullet Time so you can take down that fighter in front of you with only 20 bullets instead of 40. Or you could just say “screw it” and fire yet another missile.

Compilations of the Week

Welcome to the uber-special, one week only section where I regale you with the wondrous tales of upcoming compilations! Seriously though, this week gets really ridiculous with compilations *cough*PS3*cough*.

Tuesday August 28, 2012

God of War Saga (PS3)

Didn’t we already have one of these?

·       God of War

·       God of War 2

·       God of War: Chains of Olympus

·       God of War 3

·       God of War: Ghost of Sparta

inFamous Collection (PS3)

Remember when the Backtstreet Boys released a “best of” album four freakin’ years after their first album? Just food for thought.

·       inFamous

·       inFamous 2

Journey Collector’s Edition (PS3)

Despite the name, this does not give you the PSN game, Journey, and all its available DLC given how it doesn’t have any. It really should’ve been called Thatgamecompany: The Criterion Collection.

·       flOw

·       Flower

·       Journey

Ratchet & Clank Collection (PS3)

Unlike a certain other compilation that shall not be named, this compilation (and really all the other ones as well except for you-know-which) at least brings to the PS3 games that may not be available to all PS3 owners. I suppose you could get these Ratchet & Clank games used and play it that way, but then you’d miss out on 1080p support. Decisions, decisions.

·       Ratchet & Clank

·       Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando

·       Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal
