I’ve read a lot of different stories in various gaming forums claiming that they have run into game stopping glitches while playing The Last of Us. I saw this as a red flag, so I decided to rent the game rather than buy it. It took some time finally getting a copy from the local Redbox (3 days of stopping 3 times a day), but I finally got it. I went right home to play it. I hadn’t been that excited to play a game since Skyrim came out! The game started right up fine. I went through the prologue without a problem. I then made my way all the way through the 2nd chapter, The Quarantine Zone. So far, so good.
The 3rd chapter is where I hit my first snag. In the beginning of the chapter there is a ladder you have to climb up to get to the surface. A mini cut scene will then play. During this cut scene Joel was propelled up mid air, while the others just climbed over him. After it ended the whole environment immediately vanished. It looked like I was walking in the sky. I figured I’d just restart and pick back up where I left off, so I hit start and went to close the current game and that’s when I ran into the auto save glitch. I had to force shut down the system and connect to the internet to download the patch to get those problems fixed. After about 20 or so minutes, I was back to playing. I thought I was done with the glitches, but boy was I wrong. I made it all the way to the end of the outside section, in the sewer where you go through the gate to get to the next cut scene(shown above).
This was the game ender for me. Every time I would try to go through the gate the screen would cut to black and the game would freeze up. It tried it about 6 or 7 times before I realized it wasn’t going to work. Anyone else have this happen to them? I’m really bummed because from what I played so far the game was really great, but I never got to see the full awesomeness it has to offer. This is a game I now will be staying away from until all the bugs have been worked out. I just hope they can get them worked out soon
