I didn’t get my PlayStation 3 until 2010, so I thought I wasn’t ready for the next generation just yet. And, to be fair, I am still very happy with my PS3 and I think it has a lot of life left. But, when I played the PlayStation 4 for the first time and held that amazing new controller in my hands, I knew I made the right decision purchasing a PlayStation 4 at launch.

I always thought the DualShock 3 was the greatest controller ever made, until I held the DualShock 4. The biggest improvement is the L2 and R2 triggers; I can actually use those buttons for shooters now! I haven’t used the touchpad for anything yet, but I’m sure it will be useful in future games. I find myself hitting the touchpad when reaching for the start–er, option button, but I’m sure that’s something we’ll all get used to pretty quickly.

Visually, everything is stunning. Killzone looks so incredible, and even Call of Duty looks amazing. I can’t wait to see what Uncharted 4 and other PlayStation exclusives look like on this amazing system.

Currently, I have Killzone Shadow Fall, Need For Speed Rivals, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Contrast, Warframe, and Call of Duty Ghosts. There was no game at launch that I was extremely excited for except Watch Dogs, but that was delayed until next spring. I’m really enjoying Contrast, although it has its share of problems, and Call of Duty Ghosts’ single player campaign is surprisingly really, really good.

I know that this is a system that I will hold onto for many years to come. I love how social the console is. I love that I can finally private chat with my friends while playing game. I love that I don’t have to exit a game if I have to configure my internet settings. I’m so happy that I can “suspend” a game without quitting it if I want to take a break and watch Netflix. This is a great system, and I have no complaints so far.
