Double Fine’s Tim Schafer participated in a Fantastic Arcade talk with George Royer of White Whale Game reflecting on to look back upon the LucasArts classic computer game Grim Fandango. In reflecting upon the game, he cited his study of Dia De Los Muertos as well as classic noir films such as Casablanca as inspirations for the world and story of the game. He additionally tackles design philosophy such as why he still doesn’t design adventure games with fail states and muses on what he believes makes for satisfying-feeling puzzles.
