The cross-platform development tool Corona SDK just got a bit more interesting today with the addition of in-app purchasing options for developers in 80 countries around the world.
You can use the payments system by hooking up the new Corona plugin for payments, which will work with all Android app and game purchases, including Nook purchases — something the Nook team has been excited about for months already.
The new features come via Fortumo, which today announced a partnership with Corona Labs. Fortumo specializes in one-click payments that don’t require users to enter credit card numbers, which remains a tedious process on small mobile screens.

“There’s an incredible opportunity for developers to generate revenue with Corona-powered apps and games,” said Corona COO David Rangel in a statement on today’s news.
“Partnering with Fortumo gives our developers an option that performs extremely well across various markets. The addition of Nook in-app purchases is also highly welcome by a large number of Corona developers that have built popular content for the platform.”
The Palo Alto, Calif.-based Corona Labs says its popular SDK, along with Corona Enterprise and Corona Cloud, are currently being used by a quarter of a million developers and powers more than 1.6 billion sessions each month.
Fortumo, which was founded in 2007, has offices in Estonia, San Francisco, and Beijing. The company took a huge $10 million Series A round of funding earlier this year from Greycroft Partners and Intel Capital. Its in-app payment system works across desktop, native mobile, and mobile web applications.
