But seriously. Google I/O is one of our favorite events of the year. You get sneak peeks at special APIs, hands-on time with as-yet unreleased gadgets, first looks at new products and services from Google, and truly bizarre demonstrations from megalomanical founders.

It’s the best ticket of the year!

In case you’re still unconvinced, let’s do a quick refresh on what happened at I/O 2012. We had a Death Star-shaped media server called the Nexus Q, a 7-inch tablet, a new smartphone showing off a new Android operating system, a Google-grown challenger to AWS, and the Star Trek-reminiscent Google Glass. Yes, to be sure, by the end of the whole show, we were a bit Googled out, but there’s no better place or time to get your head around everything that Google stands for, hopes for the future, and intends for its products and services.

So far, though, we’re just happy knowing that the “new” date for I/O is in May again. The 2012 conference’s strange, late appearance at the tail end of June really threw our summers for a loop.
