Need a mobile app feature? Buy it on Verious

Verious, an online marketplace for pre-made mobile application components, launched today at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2011 conference in San Francisco.

The marketplace features pre-built, pre-tested mobile app components such as translation services or location-based camera features for sale. Developers can buy those features and plug them directly into their own apps or build an application on top of that feature.

“Our focus is to be a lens for mobile app developers, things like translation services, testing services, tools, frameworks,” Verious founder Anil Pereira said. “There’s tremendous demand for these types of components out there.”

The app component marketplace is expected to be around $30 billion by 2016, according to market research firm Forrester. Some sales can be as high as $10,000 for a mobile app feature, and Verious earns a commission off each transaction.

In an interesting twist, mobile app developers can also request certain features that are not already available on the store. Those developers can set a finder’s fee for the component, which can range anywhere from hundreds of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars.

Verious was founded in January, 2011, and is based in San Carlos, Calif. The company has raised $800,000 in funding to date.
