BetterLinux, a company with tools that cloud providers and software companies can use to maximize the efficiency of the Linux operating system running on their servers, is shutting down on July 1, according to a note on its homepage.

The company informed members about the shut-down earlier today.

BetterLinux started in 2010 and is based in Orem, Utah. The technology was developed at hosting company BlueHost. BlueHost founder and former chief executive Matt Heaton later worked as BetterLinux’s chief executive. The BetterLinux software is compatible with CentOS and Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

BetterLinux competitors include CloudLinux, which claims to do business with GoDaddy and IBM-owned SoftLayer, among others.
