Austin, Tex. based Illumitex has raised $5.25 million toward a $10 million second round of funding, according to the Austin Business Journal.

The company appears to be in full stealth mode, but has existed since at least the second half of 2006, when another company called Competitive Technologies disclosed that it had entered into a partnership with Illumitex.

The press release from the partnership states that “Illumitex’s patent-pending LED optics technology increases brightness and efficiency of HBLEDs through its unique optical properties and packaging design. This technology has a number of potential applications across a variety of sectors, including flat panel televisions, portable electronic devices, and digital projectors.”

DFJ Mercury, Aweida Venture Partners and New Enterprise Associates participated in the round.
