IT management platform ZenHub has opened up its enterprise offering worldwide, making its project management tool more available to those with on-premises instances of GitHub. The first customers to take advantage of this include Ikyu.com, ICON Health & Fitness, and photo service Imgur.
Called ZenHub Enterprise, it’s billed as the “first-ever collaboration and project management solution” that directly integrates with GitHub Enterprise. Previously only available in Japan and in the U.S., it’s now available worldwide. Features include multi-repo task boards, native any-type file uploads, burndown charts, and velocity tracking. All of these are intended to help team members better manage, prioritize, and get a single view of all the important project details within that company’s GitHub instance.

The concept behind it is to service those enterprises that aren’t comfortable with the idea of their code being live beyond their firewall.

This isn’t the first time ZenHub has worked with GitHub. In fact, it has a pretty cozy relationship with the service through its web-hosted product that gives engineers a better perspective of how projects are going. ZenHub counts Facebook, NBC, Sony, and Microsoft among its customers.
ZenHub charges 30 percent of what customers are already paying for GitHub Enterprises on a per-user basis annually.
It’s easy to think of ZenHub Enterprise as being just another project management tool like what you’d get with Trello, Atlassian, Pivotal, etc., but the direct tie-in with GitHub is a good differentiator. Although you don’t have to use GitHub Enterprise, the appeal of ZenHub Enterprise may lie in allowing users to avoid having multiple applications open. It’s all a matter of convenience.
