Blab grabs $8.8M to predict where and when your brand will profit most from a marketing push

Think of Blab as a magic crystal ball for your brand’s social media and advertising needs. Using mountains and mountains of social media data and patterns, Blab claims it can predict almost the exact time and channel in the next 72 hours where a brand should focus its resources. And today, the company is announcing it has raised $8.8 million of the $11.6 million it’s seeking in a third round of funding.

Samurai Siege developer Space Ape Games raises $7M in latest funding round

Another mobile developer is building up its stockpile of cash to connect with gamers on smartphones. London-based Space Ape Games, the studio responsible for the Clash of Clans-style game Samurai Siege, has raised $7 million in its latest round of funding. Investment firm Accel Partners led the round with participation from Initial Capital and Connect Ventures. In total, Space Ape has raised more than $11 million in capital. The company intends to use its influx of cash to increase its marketing and player acquisitions efforts. It also is looking to hire more talent.

The makers of the Weave Docker container network raise $5M to expand

Weaveworks, the startup behind the Weave open-source networking software for Docker’s hip application container technology, announced today that it has raised $5 million in new funding led by Accel Partners to expand its container party to the U.S. Weave lets admins create virtual networks to connect Docker containers across several data center environments. Think of it as one implementation of software-defined networking across data centers, to fit the needs of containers, which inherently are intended for deployment in multiple places.

4th Office grabs $4.8M

4th Office, a U.K. startup building a cloud-based workspace for teams and companies, announced it has raised about $4.8 million (a little over £3 million) in total funding in two recent rounds. The funding comes from RSG Capital, Ben White, and existing investor Notion Capital.

Eternal Sun raises $2.5M

Eternal Sun, a Dutch startup developing solar simulation technology, announced that it has raised $2.5 million (€2 million) in new funding from Belgian investment firm Vermec N.V. Eternal Sun spun off from Delft University of Technology in 2011, and its technology helps solar module manufacturers to test their materials and products.

Security startup NexDefense takes $2.4M to roll out its anomaly detection system

NexDefense just announced a $2.4 million funding round that will go towards the launch and further development of a threat-exposing network called Sophia. Sophia is NexDefense’s industrial network anomaly detection system, developed through a collaboration between the United States Department of Energy, Battelle Energy Alliance, and the Idaho National Laboratory. In 2013 NexDefense obtained exclusive rights to Sophia, and shortly thereafter it began running beta tests within a group of 70 utility organizations. Two weeks ago the company launched a full release of its product.

Promoter.io has raised $1 million in funding for its self-service customer loyalty platform. The platform automates the task of capturing feedback from customers using the Net Promoter Score. To generate the Net Promoter Score, a company asks its customers if they will recommend its product or service. By continuously asking that question over time, a company can gather valuable data that it can use to predict customer behavior, proactively eliminate churn, and prevent negative word-of-mouth, according to San Antonio, Texas-based Promoter.io. You can use it to identify your most loyal promoters, and that, in turn, helps you grow your brand and revenues.

ParcelBright grabs $1M

ParcelBright, a U.K. startup that provides cheaper and simple packet delivery for individuals and businesses, announced it has raised $1 million in funding from Forward Partners, Talis Capital, Avonmore Developments, and Howzat Partners. The startup was founded less than a year ago, and will use the funding to expand its team. ParcelBright says that it’s on track to deliver 500,000 packages this year.

Anagog raises $1M to help you find a parking space

Here in San Francisco, finding a parking space can be a headache-inducing event. One day I drove around the block so many times that the movie I wanted to see had already started, and I just drove home, angry. A solution is needed. A group of investors has decided to bet a million bucks on one company that’s using both real-time and historical driving and parking data to predict when and where a parking space is likely to show up.
