InternMatch helps employment newcomers find their place in the working world. The company raised its first funding at $4 million today and plans to make that process even simpler for both candidates and hiring managers.

No more Craigslist for you, young intern with potential. InternMatch’s website is focused specifically on your demographic, allowing you to surf through internship postings and save ones that you find interesting. It also provides a number of resources for intern candidates, including resume and cover letter help. Interested companies, however, can do more than just post internship possibilities. InternMatch provides a whole page for each company that can be filled with company culture content, videos, photos, and other marketing.

The company doubled its student user-base in the last four months to 650,000 unique student visitors each month. It quadrupled the number of applications facilitated by the site to 150,000 a month. The funding, which will help InternMatch grow the service, was led by Aris Ventures and Subtraction Capital, with participation from 500 Starts, Kapor Capital, Rudy Gadre, and other previous investors.

Now the team is focused on “discovery,” that is, helping prospective interns find employers and also helping employers surf the site for potential candidates. On the employer side, there will be new search options for finding interns who are similar to those you hired previously (if they worked out, of course).

The San Francisco-based company was founded in 2009 and previously raised a seed round of just under $1 million. Other investors include Angel Fund Social Leverage and a number of angel investors.
