SubPac, a Los Angeles-based startup working on “immersive physical-sound technology,” announced today that it closed a $6 million investment to “revolutionize” the audio industry with its wearable sound vest.
Backed by Google Android cocreator Andy Rubin, NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony’s M7 Tech Partners, and electronic music DJ Richie Hawtin, the series A round would fuel the development of the SubPac brand.
SubPac’s products, a car seat and a vest, “allow consumers to physically feel sound,” and target specifically audio professionals, gamers (including VR users), and “bass lovers.”
“SubPac opened my eyes to the power of physical sound,” said Rubin. “It will absolutely change the way people experience music, VR, and cinema.”
Dada Life and Azure Capital also participated in the round, while music producer Timbaland (aka Timothy Zachery Mosley) joined SubPac’s board.
