Residential solar panel installer Vivint Solar closed a $280 million round earlier this week. The funding is tax equity-backed by several undisclosed financial institutions and will be used to finance the installation of new PV solar panels as the company expands across the country. According to GTM Research, Vivint is the second largest installer of US residential solar panels after SolarCity. The company is based in Provo, Utah and sold to Blackstone Group LP in 2012 for $2 billion.
