Trion Worlds is finding some success with its online-shooter Defiance.
Trion revealed today that over one million players registered for accounts in the $59.99 PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 mulitplayer online game. That’s a major milestone for a title that saddles players with “bland graphics, an unintuitive user interface, and performance issues,” according to GamesBeat’s review.
Defiance, the game, might be getting a boost from Defiance, the SyFy television show. Nearly a month ago, SyFy introduced the science-fiction series that ties into the events of the game. It drew big audiences for its premiere and showed off several commercials for the game. It’s likely that the SyFy audience is crossing over to the game in a big way.
To celebrate the Defiances’ (plural) success, Trion is also announcing a competition where players can compete in the game for a chance to appear on the show. The contest is available to enter now on the official website.
