Some day, we might reminisce about how we used to crowdfund games on Kickstarter.
5th Cell, the developer behind Scribblenauts, has revealed its new game, Anchors in the Drift, which is seeking funding on Kickstarter. It’s asking for $500,000. This is the second game launching a campaign on Fig, a new crowdfunding site that seeks to give developers an alternative to Kickstarter. Fig differentiates itself by allowing investors to take a partial equity stake in the product. The first Fig campaign, Outer Wilds, raised $126,480 of a $125,000 goal.

Gamers deserve to enjoy this game.”
Anchors of the Drift is a free-to-play action role-playing game that allows players to use collectible cards to create their own abilities. 5th Cell says that it has been developing the game for over a year.
Gamers best know 5th Cell for the Scribblenauts franchise, which promoted creativity by letting players bring objects into the world by entering their names. It also created Drawn to Life, which let players draw and play as their own hero.
