6 Bloodborne invasion videos that show the cleverness of its players

Bloodborne is a difficult game filled with werewolves, eldritch horrors, and gigantic beasts out for your blood. But, for some, the true challenge lies in stalking their fellow hunters in the game’s player vs. player mode.

Invading the world of another hunter is fairly straightforward, if esoteric. Both the host (the person being invaded) and the guest need to have PlayStation Plus subscriptions, and they must be playing the game online. The guest then rings an item called the Sinister Resonant Bell. The host rings their own bell, but only in areas where a non-playable character called a Chime Maiden is present. Then, after a short amount of time (or sometimes many, many minutes), the guest is transported to the host’s game. If the invader is successful, he’ll receive a reward and then be returned to his own game world.

Although they’re often just a competition of skill, Bloodborne’s invasions can sometimes have some unexpected and funny results. Here are six videos showcasing the cleverness (and occasional bad luck) of the game’s community.

It’s important to stay limber when fighting horrors

PvP matches are often brutal and bloody affairs. Here, instead, is an example of what can happen when players gather peacefully. For nearly eight minutes, Guitarplaya668 and his opponent partake in a bit of “Bloodborne yoga” before bowing and going their separate ways. Namaste.

The pebble is mightier than the sword

Anyone who plays Bloodborne knows the lowly Pebble is overpowered. Commonly dropped by carrion crows, it can be used to lure a single enemy away from a group. Here, player Shravan Perne uses it to defeat a pesky combatant on top of a ladder.

Slap fight!

When Kite Nordenskiold realizes his duel is going nowhere, he does what any classy scythe-wielding gentleman would do — he challenges his opponent to a good, ol’ fashioned naked slap fight. There’s no word on whether or not they used Marquis of Fantailler rules.

This is why you don’t AFK

There is no pause button in Bloodborne, which is inconvenient when you need to get up off the couch and take care of the kids, walk the dog, or grab a drink. It’s doubly inconvenient when someone invades your world while you’re AFK. When player izanagitachi realizes his opponent is away, though, he doesn’t just strike the hunter down and leave. He decides to play a little trick instead.

Well, that was unexpected

In another clip from Kite Nordenskiold, he gets some help from a surprising source. Ouch.

Well, that was unexpected — Part 2

Player Steven Ihde has proof of why you should never gloat after a win. It can lead to inflated egos, bruised feelings, and death by giant terror pig.
