Capcom Ace Attorney 5 Phoenix Wright

Capcom is ready to test the dedication of Ace Attorney fans in Western markets. The publisher plans to release Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney — Dual Destines in North America and Europe but not as a physical product.

Ace Attorney 5 will hit the 3DS this fall, but Capcom will only sell it as a digital download on the system’s eShop market. This is unlike its Japanese release, where it has a boxed copy along with a limited edition that comes with an action figure, some stickers, and more.

Still, this is the first confirmation that the latest Phoenix Wright game is even coming to the States. The adventure-game series will once again have the titular lawyer questioning witnesses and suspects in an attempt to discover exactly whodunnit. It takes place eight years after the last Wright title, and the first case has Wright investigating who bombed the franchise’s courthouse.

We’ve reached out to Capcom to ask for a price and what prompted it to release Ace Attorney 5 as a digital-only game. We will update with its response.

Traditionally, Phoenix Wright games would retail for around $29.99 to $39.99. Another Capcom game, Monster Hunter Ultimate 3, is available at retail or digitally for $39.99. The fact that Phoenix Wright is only a digital game, however, will have an impact on what consumers expect to pay.

Some of the Phoenix Wright titles are also available on iOS. Each game is $4.99 on that mobile platform’s App Store.
