More than a decade later, Roblox is still growing, and it’s now jumping to yet another platform.

The massively multiplayer game-creation platform Roblox is now on the Windows 10 app store with a dedicated app. While the game has had a PC presence since 2004 with its web version, this is the first time it’s getting a standalone launcher built for Windows. The idea, as always, is to give the millions of people who play Roblox the option to play where and however they want.

“We’re thrilled to create, for the first time, a dedicated PC app,” Roblox chief executive officer David Baszucki told GamesBeat. “Our Windows 10 experience is super polished, and it integrates all the community features seamlessly with the game experience.”

For Roblox, this app isn’t only about putting the game in another store. That is beneficial on its own because the Windows Store might have people who already have their credit cards attached to an account, and that could increase the number of people spending money on the game. But this is also about taking full advantage of every Windows 10 feature.

Baszucki and his team have spent the last several years getting Roblox working on touchscreens and controllers in addition to mouse and keyboard. With the Windows 10 app, players now have the option to use any of those input devices. If you have something like the Surface Book Windows 10 notebook that turns into a tablet, you can use its keyboard, plug in a gamepad, or use its touchscreen to play Roblox however you want.

The Windows 10 store Roblox app comes in the wake of the Xbox One version, which has enabled the game to reach a new segment of the $99.6 billion gaming industry.

“Growth at Roblox has accelerated immensely,” said Baszucki. “Our Xbox product continues to be the top downloaded game or app on Xbox One. It’s held that position for almost three months.”

With the VR version for Oculus Rift out and the mobile versions continually growing in terms of downloads, the Roblox company clearly doesn’t want to leave any gamers behind, and that’s working.
