An Xbox One launch game is getting a PC port, but the real story here is the publishers behind it
The game is Ryse: Son of Rome, an action title originally published by Microsoft and developed by Crytek. Since Ryse’s launch last November with Microsoft’s newest console, Crytek’s been stuck in a whirlpool of financial problems and woes. Employees were complaining that they allegedly weren’t getting paid on time, and Crytek dropped its U.K. studio entirely. So, it’s a little surprising to hear that Crytek now plans to publish Ryse for PC this fall, with some help from Deep Silver.

Also, while Crytek will publish the digital version, copublisher Deep Silver will help distribute boxed versions to retail stores.
Crytek and Deep Silver already have a relationship. After Crytek closed its U.K. studio, most of the employees moved to Deep Silver’s new studio in England to continue working on a sequel to 2011 first-person shooter Homefront after Deep Silver bought the franchise from Crytek.
As for the actual port, Crytek is promising 4K resolution support. “Ryse will be a benchmark PC-graphics showcase this year and probably for a long time in future,” Carl Jones, director of business development at Crytek, said in a press release sent to GamesBeat. “Our community asked for a Ryse PC version, and we have the means and technology to deliver this title with the highest quality possible.”
The PC port will also come with all of the downloadable content previously released for the Xbox One version.
