Angry Birds Fight! brings player vs. player combat to the popular franchise

The Angry Birds are back, and they’re looking for a fight.

Rovio Entertainment today announced the worldwide launch of Angry Birds Fight!, a Match-3 puzzle game for iOS and Android.

A fusion of Japanese culture with classic Angry Birds characters, Fight! is the first title in the blockbuster franchise to feature player vs. player game play. Players race against the clock to match as many panels as possible, powering up their birds for battle against other players around the world. The title also has some light role-playing game elements, including uncharted islands filled with rogue challengers and battle tools that can be equipped to gain an edge in combat.

Fight! has been downloaded over 3 million times since it first launched in Asia Pacific in May 2015.

The worldwide launch comes at a time when consumer interest in the Angry Birds franchise seems to be sagging. The company reported in March that revenues had fallen 9 percent to $170.6 million in 2014. Rovio also laid off over 100 employees and closed a studio in Tampere, Finland last year.
