Think of it as Super Smash Bros. but with anime and manga characters instead of Mario and Pikachu.
Publisher Bandai Namco announced today that it is bringing J-Stars Victory VS+ to the West for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and PlayStation 3. The fighter contains characters from over 30 different Shonen Jump franchises (a magazine famous in Japan for publishing manga), including Dragon Ball, Naruto, and One Piece.
J-Stars Victory VS came out in Japan back in March, although a Western release was questionable due to its reliance on Japanese characters, some of which aren’t as well-known as Goku and friends to Western audiences.
“With its cornucopia of anime and manga characters and franchises, J-Stars Victory VS+ is a title that anime fans and gamers alike could only dream of Bandai Namco Games America Inc. bringing to the West,” said Chris Gilbert, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Bandai Namco Games America, Inc., in a press release sent to GamesBeat “Today, we’re making those dreams come true; this over-the-top crossover fighting game is poised to pit some of the most famous anime characters in battles never thought possible.”
