Batgirl DLC delayed for Batman: Arkham Knight’s troubled PC port

PC gamers are going to have to wait a while longer to play as Batgirl.

Warner Bros. is delaying the PC release of Batman: Arkham Knight’s first downloadable content, which was originally due to deploy on July 14. The publisher already suspended sales of the disastrous PC port — which is unplayable for most people —  and now it’s holding back the Batgirl: A Matter of Family DLC. Console gamers will still get access to the DLC this week as long as they bought the $40 season pass.

Arkham Knight is one of the year’s biggest game releases — and a potential big earner for Warner Bros. — and the publisher is getting a lot of flak for messing up the PC version so badly. As a result of the problems, Warner Bros. says it’s now modifying its internal review process for all future games.

In a statement on its forums, Warner Bros. explained that it’s currently working on fixing problems with the PC port, but it didn’t give a time-scale for these fixes to roll out as a final, working version. Neither did it provide an updated schedule for any DLC to release on PC, either, which isn’t going down well with season pass owners who’ve already paid up front for the extra content.

“Addressing the PC performance issues is still our top priority, and at this time, we believe we have identified a number of fixes for the larger issues that were affecting PC players at launch,” read the statement. “These fixes are currently being implemented into the game, and once we have been able to do some initial testing, we’ll have a better idea on the status of our progress.  We’ll provide an update on how things are developing next week.

“Our continued focus on getting the right PC fixes in place for the main game has had an impact on the development of all DLC content for the PC version of the game.  This means that the Batman: Arkham Knight — Batgirl: A Matter of Family DLC will not be available on July 14 for those who are currently playing the PC version of the game.  We apologize for the delay and only want to make sure that any content that we offer is up to the standards that PC players expect.”
