LOS ANGELES — Electronic Arts and DICE showed off the next generation of Battlefield today at Microsoft’s pre-Electronic Entertainment Expo media briefing today — and it’s a future that favors Xbox One players.

DICE demoed the first-person shooter running on Xbox One. DICE emphasized that it was running at 60 frames per second. From the demo, it looks like Battlefield 4 will follow in the footsteps of most other modern shooters. It is heavy on the scripted moments, with players attempting to escape a sinking aircraft carrier.

In addition to the demo, EA games executive vice president Patrick Söderlund confirmed that Xbox One will get Battlefield 4 map packs before other platforms.

This is similar to the deal Microsoft has with Activision for the Call of Duty franchise. Map packs take a month after hitting Xbox 360 to reach PlayStation 3 and PC.
