Beyond Good & Evil 2 might be back from the dead

Beyond development hell.

Michel Ancel, the creator of the Rayman franchise over at publisher Ubisoft, posted a picture today on his Instagram that looks like concept art for a Beyond Good & Evil game, as spotted on the video game forum NeoGAf. Beyond Good & Evil was a cult favorite action-adventure game released in 2003. A sequel was announced way back in 2008, but the project quickly vanished.

Ancel’s Instagram post includes a thank you to Ubisoft “for making this possible.”

The image, which you can see above, shows what looks like a young version of the character Pey’j, the pig creature from the original game. The man could be the father of Jade, the hero from Beyond Good & Evil. System 4 was also the name of the setting for the original game.

Ubisoft and Ancel have insisted over the years that Beyond Good & Evil 2 was still in development, but it’s been hard to take them seriously when we have seen so little of the game for eight years. Now, we may have something tangible.
