Don't let that weapon get too strong.

We’re about to find a whole lot more about how exactly people play Hearthstone.

Blizzard revealed on its forums that its digital card game, Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft, is getting an API soon. An API (application program interface) allows outside parties to easily access information about a game. For Hearthstone, it’ll allow people to find stats on which cards get played the most, what kinds of decks win the most often, and more.

This will further players’ ability to strategize. If they know what decks and cards are the most popular — and have data beyond the popular meta reports or just their own observations from playing and social media to back them up — then they can plan accordingly.

The free-to-play Hearthstone is a money-making machine for Blizzard that brings in $20 million a month. A new expansion, The Grand Tournament, comes out on August 24.
