Infinity Ward had always strayed away from multiplayer achievements in Call of Duty 2 and the Modern Warfare trilogy. The studio had several reasons why it did, but you can argue that they simply didn’t need it — the insanely successful multiplayer lived and thrived on its own, without the gamerscore incentives that so many other lesser games feel the need to dangle. Current Call of Duty developer Treyarch has finally bucked that trend in its upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops II with a handful of achievements focused on winning in certain playlists, leveling up, and prestiging.

Curiously, the achievement for beating the game on Hardened or Veteran difficulty is a paltry 15 gamerscore, a far cry from previous versions, where dominating Call of Duty’s hardest challenge netted players up to 150 or 200 points in some cases.  Two other Veteran difficulty achievements net an additional 100 points, but this still pales in comparison to what past games have provided.

Old Fashioned (50)
